Man, I have'nt been this excited about a channel in a long time. My son was recording music in his bedroom at 13. Now, I have gotten back into guitar. He is 16 now, and we are looking to start recording at home. We don't have much money, and a lot has changed since I played. We have guitars, but we need effects. He says to get a Line 6 helix that costs $1,000, and record on his ipad. Do you agree?

Ahoy! I have been playing in a cover band for a few years now. I tried a solid state Peavey and a Bugera tube combo with various pedal board setups. I then got a Katana Mk2 head with a 2x12 cab and that is all I need. From Fleetwood Mac to Sublime, Beatles to Pantera,it does it all. I love this thing. But I still really like my Bugera and Peavey too.

Yes! Needed this today! I do not agree with Glenn on that shhhht. Would go into detail why, but rather be short. He equalized the 6505 and Mesa Rectifier to sound the SAME! They are completely different BEASTS! Love Glenn but Please Robert, PROVE HIM WRONG VIDEO!

No offense, but I think that was the entire point of Glenn’s video. He was trying to prove that those amps can be EQ’ed to sound very similar to each other.

Bought this fender deluxe vm amp on a steal off of Craigslist. It been a couple months and I enjoy it. I don't run the amp fx there not my thing. he amps sounds good for the cleans. Lately I ran a boss loop, boss reverb, gun slinger distortion I've been playing a fender mim tele with the middle pick up. I have talked to Robert on his channel about this or that. With Robert's advise and a couple reviews I've seen from him. I like the sound of my sound and gear and that's all that matters. Always Thanks for all the awesome videos.

About the senior citizen wanting to replace his cover band rig: maybe it would be interesting to me, but it doesn't sound like something you could get into. I'm saying that because not much of the stuff us old folks listen to calls for high gain (if you don't count the Hendrix fuzz stuff).

Hey Robert .. a cover band amp review would be interesting. A best of-Worst of type of thing maybe? Sure, choices would be subjective but we'd benefit from your experience and insights. Rock on!

Jeez. As an older guy myself, if I was in a cover band my top priority would "light as possible". My budget would be a Valeton GP-200 and an FRFR cabinet of some sort...though I don't know what's available, how much those cost or how they sound. Also, that guy's band is so loud, I can hear them from here.

To add to the legitimacy of solid state: there is a recent King Crimson interview from Rick Beato where I'm pretty sure Adrian Belew says the best guitar tones he heard from his time with 80s KC came from a solid state Vox...

I'm currently running a MESA Rectifier preamp into the insert of a Crate GX-140D Chorus 2x12 combo... so it bypasses the crate preamp but uses the built in chorus and power amp, loaded with Eminence speakers, ABY with a Ceriatone Chupacabra 50 and a Small Clone in the loop, 4x12 cab... it's like a wall of all the best chorus sounds, Floydtallica Nirvantera, you've ever heard quaking into your testicles.

As people complain about solid state, while many of these guys are using Fractals in concert and audiences aren't booing or throwing rotten vegetables. 🤣 Megadeth is using Quad Cortex. Cove band guy must be playing large venues using a 412 etc. Anything is repairable, it's just finding the right person/place to do it. Katana seems the obvious choice for cover bands or an HK.

Love the channel Robert, been subscribed for a while and always look forward to the new videos and value your opinion. My question is regarding your thoughts on 1 watt valve amps, specifically the Marshall DSL1 and/or the Blackstar HT1. I always used solid state amps (Marshall MG, Orange Crush Pro) for home use and gigs. Then got a Katana a few years ago which I used as an all rounder (gigs, home demos, home use). But recently I have found an appreciation for valve tone and their responsiveness with pedals. I have a 20 watt valve amp that is too loud for home use (even on low power) and plus don’t want to wear out the valves playing it at home as it is my gigging amp (play in a 70s style blues rock band). Do you think a little 1 watt valve amp is a sensible option for home playing, or do you think valve amps at that kind of wattage are a bit pointless, and would i be better off with something solid state or modelling? Thanks.

Noob here. I'm going for the DSL40, because.. because.. it has a MASTER volume knob. I may be as technical as a rock, but... what could go wrong here? 🙃

@@wolfgangdevries127 might well be the way to go. I’ve got a master volume on my Origin20, although it doesn’t really act like a master volume IMO, seems to just add more gain and volume at the same time which I think older style single channel amps used to be like. I like it for playing loud, rehearsal or gig, but playing quiet is pretty much impossible, hence why im considering a much smaller one for home. But the DSL master volume probably functions more like a typical master.

@@Moonsguitars well, I looked all over the place, then someone said in a comment he could turn it real soft. But what I do understand about it, without hearing it, a 1W tube produces still lots of (a lot of?) noise. Greetings from Holland! :)
