This is something I noticed when fitting ships for my alpha. I think this is something that is generally overlooked because the t2 version is superior so some people just assume the t1 version is as well :-p
There are actually a few of these modules. I remember an old ccp pilot advice post that recommended care picking modules as T2 aren't always best. Some officer mods are worse than dead space variants too. Should they be 'fixed' too? Perhaps It's there as a driver to learn from more experienced players in game or here on YT. Some of us even use the compare tool a lot. :) It's part of what I like about Eve. Fair play Suitonia for sharing 👍
I noticed this as well when I started diving into the ridiculous amount armor module options in this game. Maybe the energized family doesn't suffer from resistance stacking penalties?
The difference is in T2 variants of the item. Base value for T2 Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II is 20% while T2 adaptive nano Plating only has 15,4%. I agree that the T1 is pointless but T2 is usefull
It's only 15% resists, it may display higher if you have it fitted to an active ship if you're benefitting from the compensation skills, but if you fit a 'refuge' adaptive nano plating it will be higher.
Isn't there a set of Armour Skills that increase the Energized Membrane resists per level? I could've sworn there are 4 skills, one for each damage type, that increase the Energized x by 5% resists per level. I think they are called x x Compensation, or something. Each level on them roughly equals +1%/level resist on the Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane, and ~+2%/level for the Damage Specific Energized Membranes. I thought that until you get those skills to lvl 3, the Non-Energized one is still better. Not sure I'd have to double check.
So what would you say is the general conceptual difference between EANM and EANP? What are supposed to be the comparative strengths and weaknesses between the two that would theoretically (assuming CCP does someday tiercide these and fix them) drive meaningful fitting choices? Also, iirc, the module team said at Fanfest this year that they did plan on tierciding all the rest of the mods (of which there were over 700) by the fall/winter release. Have you heard from CCP whether they're making progress towards that goal? btw thanks a ton for all these videos. It's one of the parts of the EVE community I really love.
Energized should give more power for high CPU cost, T2 faction and all other EANMs are fine for that reason. I'd just give T1 16% resists, Meta 18% resists, and then T2 is still 20% resists. Making them better than ANPs.
Are you calculations not including any skills or is this only for the T1 version? I have a stratios that had 2 Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II fitted, when I look at the stats with my toon compared the the Adatoive Nano Plating II The Adapative still shows me 15.4% the Energized shows me 25% resists
I guess you really can't say theirs no reason for it, I'm sure there alot of players who build and make their isk of those modules. Although useless in the pvp sense,. I'm sure as far as industries and manufacturing goes, they might be bringing in the cake.. but good to know. Love your videos man.
