The video clips on this channel are segments of videos taken from videos originally posted on the Hickok45 RU-vid channel. John always includes a link to the original video from which the clip is taken.
Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Firearms can be extremely dangerous if not used safely.

The thing is heavy for only two shots. I carried it as a boot gun when I rode my motorcycle. I carried one 45 and one 410 shot. I used it twice around Sturgis SD….. on snakes

My inner Cowboy loves my Bond Arms derringer. Also, made in Texas by Texans ramps up the coolness factor for me. And the fact that it's Granbury, Texas sends the coolness factor through the roof. I grew up on a farm outside of Granbury, went to school there. I have the Grizzly Bear model from the "Rough" series, with two 3" barrels: one chambered in .45 Colt/.410 bore; the other 9mm. I bought it to be my snake gun. When I'm not tramping through the woods or on a hiking trail, I either switch from .410 shells to .45 Colt rounds or switch out the barrel for 9mm. Then it's my backup/truck gun. Bond Arms derringers. Sturdy. Reliable. Cool. Fun. Practical (kinda sorta).

Had one in .357 mag back in my cowboy shooting days 20+ years ago. It was fun for competitions and okay as a farm gun, but otherwise I found it pretty pointless, basically a toy for gun lovers. Like Hickock, however, I did love mine for Old West nostalgia purposes. Wish I still had it, but honestly don't miss it much.

I recently purchased a Stinger RS for a snake gun. Seeing as how pistol cartridge shotshells have an exaggerated spread due to rifling, I figured the derringer would be the best option. It's also the quintessential pocket gun at that.

Is the Bond a double-action? Derringers I've seen always have one of the two pins projecting out, so you must never close the breech unless the trigger is half-cocked.

We looked at Bonds, and at NAAs...we bought the .22lr NAA...sure, the Bonds are well built, they weigh a ton and are huge, just carry a micro .380 or 9mm...our thought was concealability, the NAA wins hands down...it ain't much, but sneaky surprise is still taught in tactics 101...

I think there’s a sort of misunderstood, mis-valued, and under-appreciated sub-genre of firearms that I tentatively dub “right on top of you guns” that encompass the vast majority of derringers and other seemingly underpowered and underperforming so-called “pocket pistols”, the dubbing of which I think should denote the actual intended range and purpose of the firearm. They harken back to an era where potential threats used guile, trickery, and manipulation of public norms regarding public space rather than naked aggression to get close to you and then attack, thus leaving your only range of self defense to be when they’re literally “right on top of you.” However, as society and its social mores of personal and public space have changed over time, alongside attitudes about how to get inside said spaces for nefarious purposes, as well as advancement in self defense technology to govern all of those spaces and waxing and waning public access to said technologies in various areas, I think today we as a society have a general dismissal of such firearms because our societal normative today is to stop a potential threat that’s ten or fifteen feet (and well beyond) away from you before they even remotely have an opportunity to enter your personal space. Use the right tool for its purpose, and I think this firearm and other pocket pistols like it are best served as absolutely “last-ditch” solutions to self defense.
