Usher Transport Video Training Series. Pumping Procedures Video Training instructs Usher Transport drivers on the process of delivering and pumping product to their customers.
I was a tanker yanker for twelve years before the big C got me. Anybody watching this video please remember this was made in a perfect world!!!! They left out things like. No hoses at one in the morning. Hoses that have no caps or have been flattened . Hoses that have other unknown products in them. Missing hoses and connections again at one or two in the morning. Customer's who want it in a certain tank but won't let you park closer ,so you need more hoses. Which leads me too .a boss who won't let you carry extra hoses, because they are too expensive and don't want to buy them and the customer obviously doesn't have any. I could go on . But the biggest thing ,it won't do you any good. The dispatcher!!! Ask him with witnesses if there are any notes or special requests or instructions for this load??? Saved my butt on more times than I care to remember, and I drove for three big ( supposed) well known and noted companies. ??? This video deals with delivery. Would love to see the ( perfect world) loading!!!!
What the heck are you watching? There's no motorcycles there, no dirt, no beautiful scenery! HaHa! Thank you so much for your nice comment, I am surprised this video is getting views, I only put it up for the client to see. Do you know how to pump petroleum now? Thanks again!
Starting this week. I can’t even state how excited I am coming from being a reefer/lumper type driver. I’m surprised at the lack of step-by-step procedure videos there are, like this one. Thanks!
@@roadbully384 I'm thinking the same hauling milk with a company here in West Texas. Been researching to make sure this a good fit for me before I decide to go ftom driving a school bus to this.
thanks for this video, i am now thinking about getting into tanker, after dry van and reefer for 26 years, it is time for a change, especially as an owner operator, tired of the cheap dry van rates. i am trying to learn as much as i can.
Narrator could of mentioned with the caution needed when opening a hose that might be pressurized the cap could shoot off the end of the hose into your face! Also noticed when driver was hooking up to the inlet for filling, there is a nasty wire at the end of the hose where the connection is being made sticking up just waiting to poke through your rubber glove into your hand. Yep, been there done that.
Hi there has anybody considered using a portable generator operated pump or air compressors in order to unload tanker? If yes was it any reliable way of doing it?
5:20 '' Back in the day ''. We used haywire, to L O C K those cam fittings. Better than velcro- it is a burnable material, BIG time. Transported hot road /roofing asphalt, and sulphuric acid, late 70s' mid 80's. Trimac and Westcan ( western Canada - Alberta. ) ....hmm....let us see, him connect the 'ground ' wire/ cable/ clamp, etc. ???
striking the tire with a hammer is a stupid ass way to check for proper inflation and it blows my mind that it was part of this video. Use a tire pressure gauge. It might feel like its inflated still but DOT will notice that its lower than it should be and it will still be a violation
I completely agree with you! But I just shot the script as the information was given to me. If they say strike the tire with a hammer, well thats what I shot on video! Thanks for the comment!
Been driving 17 yrs, and I can definitely strike a tire with a hammer and tell if it has air or not. It's a preliminary check. It has a *note* to it. The air gauge comes out when it's time to fill it..
Using a tire thumper is a DOT approved method of checking tire pressure, though kicking the tire is not. And it doesn't take long to learn what a properly inflated tire sounds and feels like, and if it's a little off you get the gauge out, as well as periodically checking them with the gauge. I personally prefer a ball peen hammer (brass if you are dealing with flammable materials) to a tire thumper stick, it's perfectly balanced and allows you to get a good consistent hit.
I think I prefer the bleeder valve and walking the line after the unload to clean the hoses. Rolling the line like that seems like too much of the potential for spillage.
I would tend, to agree. Hauling hot road asphalt, 70;s 80'. WE HAD TO DRAIN HOSES, best as we could. YOU mentioned the CORRECT METHOD !. LET the pump - do its' thing. (all one needed, was a solid , cold asphalted hose ) There was a pile, in Trimacs' back yard.....all colors, brands, ......
Hey! Trying to get some feedback...QUESTION. I BELIEVED THE PYROMETER WAS ONE OF A Sophisticated PIECE OF EQUIPMENT... HOWEVER....IT DOES NOT. DETECT AND OR EXTINGUISH A FIRE IN THIS PARTICULAR HEAVY USE EQUIPMENT: SEMIs...why? #ANSUL FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM...
Oakley is paying $225 - 300 a day depending on your terminal location. 863 734 1298 tell them Douglas Cunningham referred you please. We haul food grade tankers. You can get mileage but I think salaries less stress.
NO GROUNDING CABLE and CLAMP ? WHAT KINDA OPERATION IS THIS ??/ get with the program, there is an electrical imbalance, between the tanker and the storage tanks !!!!! caused by fluid flowing !
That is a good observation! Being just the video producer, I would not have thought about that, I think you should bring that up with Usher Transport so they can add that to their training program!
This was pretty cut and dried! Actually, compared to commercials and sales promotions I probably enjoyed doing this one the most! You get to work with some real down to earth people! Thanks Man, I really appreciate your comments!
Never use your 4 ways when checking trailer lights, disgruntled drivers are notorious for switching trailer wires. I can't tell you how many times I've seen turn signal lights wired in reverse, which is very deadly, especially with a fuel tanker. Believe me, I've learned from experience...
I would have never believed that until I was the victim of some skulduggery at an employer I once worked for. Some freak show was even flattening my tires on my personal vehicle because dispatch was putting me on runs he used to do. Came at me one day at the laundromat screaming how I took his routes. If I wasn't a new guy I would have just jacked the dude up but I calmly told him to take it up with dispatch. Come to find out the reason they were given to me is because he was such a douche the customer didn't want him back, he was kicked off the property and almost lost the account.
I have never hauled tanker but I would think all of the velcro safety straps were used to keep locking tabs from unlocking when pressurized . If so then why wouldn't you also put them on your hose union joining the two hoses?...." the only stupid question is the one not asked!"
Absolutely; why only TIE DOWN the input/output, when the most danger, could come from loose camlock EARS, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE hose JOB ! Another item: velcro is a very combustible materail. '' back in the day '' i used haywire, to BE SURE cam locks, NOT OPENING. ! (one, has alotta respect, for road asphalt, 350 degrees, and roofing asphalt, over 400 _ ( : ~)
I did not see any thing about getting a tank reading , I choose to not trust gauges , If possible I always choose to use a ruler to insure I know the amount of product I can fill the tank , Exxon Mobil standing rule 90 % only .
Not are way at Oakley. We do food grade product. And after empty. Close their valve and run your pump in reverse. Emptying your lines back into trailer
I don't like wishing someone a good day or anyone wishing me a good day. Way too much pressure. If someone wishes me a good day and I have a crappy day I not only feel bad because I had a crappy day but I also feel like, I let down the person that told me to have a good day.
...never seen so much brand new equipment before...I hauled hot road oil about 40 years ago...no drip buckets...no velcro safety straps...no hose caps...had to climb the ladder to open top vent on the tank...times have changed I guess...
Yeah I thought same thing! Just fold the damn thing and drag the middle not the camlocks. I like the Velcro straps though, I have seen ears migrating before
