I appreciate Apples effort with the session players. I am sure I don’t know how to get the most out of it. The performances however remind me of Band In A Box circa1994. They’re better but not usable without massive MIDI editing. Crazy busy. Way way way too many notes. I bet this gets fixed
Thank you for showing me this track feature. But I will not use it. I do not see an advantage. I have more control of this new track when it is duplicated. I can add different EQs, etc. it makes no sense for my personal workflow.
Whoa now, this is momentous... I am also a “Bart”.... Folks, are you aware of the odds, the raw improbability of two of us being in the same spot let alone interacting like this? Legit just a step below seeing the birth of unicorn right now. Much respect, Mr Childers, and much love to you all. Keep putting in those hours and keep releasing music!
I don’t see the advantage of “the same track” feature .. I just duplicate the track and then have more control .. am I missing something that makes your system more useful ?
The main advantage is in using only one instrument instance… so it conserves resources and also makes it so you wouldn’t have to make changes to the sound in multiple places. All regions trigger the exact same destination and not multiple loaded instruments. Your idea isn’t bad either, they both have advantages and disadvantages.
You know It seems like it takes forever just to put up a groove. I just like playing with people. I'll find a drummer and a bass player. For those of you who can sit for hours and focus on a piece, my hats off to you.
I like being to do manual patterns and select what part of the snare gets hit but the side stick is disproportionately loud, and lowering its volume unfortunately lowers all the snares volumes. Any way to compensate (without having to convert to midi)?
4:59 finding this and it not even being in the manual is crazy and I definitely hope it’s going to just be a feature rather than something they slap a bandaid on and take away!
OK COOL with the multi drum tracks - but how could you manage producer kits, where you put a lot oof work into customising the drum mix - and dont wanna do that with like 3 x8 tracks?
Excellent. Regarding the editing of the Session Player track that you mention around 5:05, it does make sense that it is a bug, unless Apple wanted users to have the ability to edit some of the notes while it was still a SP track, *if* there's some things that you can do with the SP settings that won't erase the notes, but from what you're showing it looks unlikely. In the iPad version, which I use, you only edit the region chords and apply manual playback settings from within the SP plugin itself - there's no MIDI piano roll available in edit mode.
