Update: I've made a few more videos regarding this Champion 224cc wood chipper with more detail and advice. Thanks to everyone who's supported me!

I'm just a little gal and if I can run this thing you can too! I absolutely love the chips this machine produces and how fast and powerful it is. This is not a paid promotion in any way but I have to say I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone wanting to transform their yard into a work of landscaping art or just to clean up sticks. Its easy to use and easy shut down and wheels away to be stored.
I have only used one other wood chipper and it was bigger than this unit and did not mulch so easily. It took forever and the wood needed to be pushed through. Not this machine! It'll grab the wood and pull it in itself. We've made so much chipped mulch for the gardens and walkways and it still acts like a beast. I highly recommend trying one for yourselves!
At first the colour of the chips can be deceiving as they seem more green from fresh cut wood but the colour will leave after a week or two and you'll be left with the woods true colour.
Also check out the crazy ICE night we had in Saskatchewan during May. I've got a video of the walk around our yard and to the local post office.

Throw the little stuff in the top hopper and use a stick instead of your hand to push branches into the chipper. Great review

Looks like it is very easy to use. I was contemplating getting one, your video convinced me to make the purchase. Great review! Thanks so much!!

Great little machine once you get it started. Would be a better machine if there was a "neutral" setting isolating the engine from impeller for start up. Very difficult to pull start a new engine. I had to remove the snap on air filter cover and foam filter, and sprayed just a shot of carb cleaner into carburetor to give the spark plug enough fuel to fire the engine. Then I replaced the foam filter and cover. Ran like a charm afterward.

Okay, I got a strange question, if you might be able to advise. I have a LOAD of arborist wood chips and would like to be able to reduce the chip size. Do you think the Champion could handle using the top hopper to add the larger chips? And, have you tried mulching leaves?

It all depends how big the chips are to start. And the top doesn't have blades it tears branches and leaves. You could put them down the smaller chute and have something cover the it (hand or whatever) so nothing shoots back out since it's pre mulched. I don't see why not, I shove smallish stuff into the smaller chute. Green leaves come out green but dry after a day or so but only leaves I think might be too wet? I don't know exactly as I add them with the branches. Dried leaves I don't know either. Hope that helps a bit!

I saw another video on this chipper I am considering. You mentioned the same thing I saw on that video which is the "long shredding material" that comes from putting thinner sticks in the top chute. My question is what does the top chute do with fallen leaves? Does it mulch them down to a fine gardening mulch?

The top part is for smaller stuff, like the end clean up sticks, but the pieces dont come out as small chips like the main 3" cute. With leaves they'll shred into small pieces, will dry over the next couple if days and crumble apart like autumn leaves. Just pitting purely leaves without sticks I'm unsure of, I haven't tried that. I would advise not too much at once in case it gums it up if the leaves are still a bit fresh or wet. I don't see why it wouldn't shred them, though I would try dry leaves and not too much at once.

Hey there, I know it was months ago when you left a comment about this wood chipper shredding leaves. I hope you found your answer, but if not and was still curious I did end up making another video showing what the outcome of shredding fallen leaves would be. If your interested you can check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZYl6HolKqt0.html God bless!

Hey, I'm looking in getting this engine but I don't know if it will work for a mini bike. What do you think?
@narrowpathjourney
@narrowpathjourney Год назад
Some are built to stay at a certain speed like this engine, while others are made to speed up and down as you move a throttle. We also have a separate Champion engine with hopes of using it for a project like a mini bike with our son. This particular engine isn't made for any gear switching. I'm no expert by any means and I would continue to get another opinion though! Maybe someone else knows something I don't.

Do you have to wait for branches to dry?
@thefringeminorityreport4797
@thefringeminorityreport4797 2 года назад
No. Wetter the better. Fresh branches have moisture which lubricates the blades in my opinion. The dry branches bog down the machine if it's a dry 3 inch branch. Wet Flies through no issue. This is my wife's Chanel and video

I do find the older and dryer the branches are they don't seem to have as nice a slice as the fresher branches.
