Sometimes when I record blues stuff I put it in my pedal board chain with the input knob set at about 6 o'clock and output set at noon. It gives just that little bit of tube sound for lead stuff. It doesn't compare to a good tube amp but it has a cool/unique sound that works well for blues and for $30 you can't beat it. Sounds better than any solid state blues driver pedal that I have used.
That sounded terrific. Even the maxed-out fuzz sounds cool and definitely has potential applications for certain tones - also sounds way better than most of the digital fuzz emulations I've tried in a lot of budget (even some midrange) multi-effects units. I've been eyeing some of the ART tube-based stuff for a little while now; they just seem to offer a lot more than their price would suggest, even if you just get them as a fun tool to experiment with on different signal chains.
You probably think of plugging this device (preamp) into power amp pedal (something like Mooer Baby bomb 30 watt pedal, or Electro Harmonics Magnum power amp pedal, which are both class D power amp), and my answer to you is....yes, why not....preamp are meant to go into power amp, and from power amp's output , using speaker (not instrument) cable, you plug this speaker cable directly into guitar cabinet. Or (another solution)....if you have combo amp, you can use power amp (and in that regard ..amp's speaker also) portion of that combo amp, by simply plugging your guitar into input of this Art preamp, and from Art Tube MP's output plugging instrument cable into fx return of your combo amp (if you have fx loop, of course). This way you are using only power amp section of amp, and Art Tube MP will be your preamp before power amp.
I have an old GT-5 hooked up to my Orange Rocker 15 using the 4 wire method. Where would be the best place in the signal chain to insert the ART? Between the Amp's "send" and the FX's "return"?
Yes . With your scarlet you would connect through the line in input. That way your just using the art pre amp as your gain stage with tube tone. Otherwise you would be stacking the art pre on top of the Scarlett pre. If your not careful you could possibly damage the Scarlett pre amp by sending it a super hot signal. The signal is already attenuated by the art mic pre so it goes to line level. Same as a keyboard would.
hi! so am I right to understand that your set up is the following: guitar - clean Boss gt-100 w/ art tube MP - audio interface? I mean, you don't use any cab sim etc.?
In fact, yes and no. In this video, the ATMP is in the Boss GT's effects loop. So, the GT works as a sound card AND a HP/mic simulator (whitch is activated). So you're right about the connection, but there's still a complete chain. The ATMP is used as a "real" guitar preamp here. :) Hope it helps !
Ummm, anything is better, and ART has been making decent equiptment ,and better (not worst like "other company" then try to be better later on...BAH,HAHA no,no I use Beringer to record Heavy Metal guitar thru, and its just a different color (u could say) but its getting a heavily distorted signal to start. Lol. Naw,seriously its like 1202FX or something,IDK,Its 16 Ch. 4 buss,w/FX. reverse reverb is ok. I use on drums, snare mostly to beef up a chourus. Lexicon I think too. Anyhoo,ya the one Beringer that Ive heard nothing but greatness is the 1932,(im exhausted ,model numbers are just not in reach at the moment, got Pizza on my brain)Tube Comp,2 Channel but under 300 bucks, ppl say crushes the Art VLA 2,.....BA,HAHA. Umm,I just totally 100% contradicted myself didnt I???? Ugh,WHERES THAT DELIVERY GUY?????? ya,Id def go for any ART stuff over Beringer. Im thinking the reveiws I read about the Berignger 1932-blah blah 2 Ch Compressor are prob kids/beginners and like a LOT of lights and switches, over sound possibly. I say possibly cause I havent heard the 1932 Comp, but heard plenty plenty and plenty of Beringer equiptment in my years,I still have stuff from them somewhere, but use on live stuff, not tracking/mixing anymore. Just save and get better stuff, trust me. 30 peices of crap will never sound better than 10 decent ones,or 5 killer ones. It just wont. Just save the little 100-200 more to get smthn with all 4+ star reveiws at least. Buying stuff is not easy ,read, read, listen to posts, any and all info on particular product,or products then get the top 3 list going. Boom,as soon as prices drop around March lol, buy buy buy
Nop, I use the Tube MP as a guitar preamp, in the signal chain : guitar > Multi effect > Tube MP in the FX loop > PC (with USB cable). No amp or mic where used in this recording. :-)
@@LegendaryFox01 how do you connect this to your pc with a USB cable? I've got one from like 10 years ago that I recently dug up and can't see a USB port on it.
