This is how I use a Audio Sound Mixing Board for my desk to mix the sound for my computer, tablet and 5 ham radios to 1 set of speakers and a set of headphone, plus send to the computer for audio recording.
Thank you for sharing. Do you have your radio mic connected to the mixer and can you switch the mic input to different or multiple radios at the same time? This is my objective right now. I am using an Electro Voice RE20 on my ICOM IC-7300 and a HEIL PR-781 on my ICOM IC-9700. All my mics are XLR going into an A.R.T. Studio V3 Tube MP preamp for the 26db boost. This is cumbersome on my desk. I want to use one mic for multiple radios and just switch my EV RE20 to whichever radio or radios I am talking on. Again, Thank you for sharing and hopefully I haven't confused what I am trying to accomplish. Cheers, Jay N6WIP
I don't have a my mics going to the mixer, I think the best for you would be to make up a switching system for 1 mic to different radios. You could use a mixer to send the audio for the mic to different radios but you would still need a switch for each radio to activate the ptt. Thanks for watching.
I understand the logic. I don't understand how you physically connect radios to the mixer. Know it's an "old" video. Still looking into this is as a solution in my shack.
Just go from the Aux speaker out on the radios to a channel on the mixer, you can buy the cables at radio shack (if you can find one) Best Buy or amazon.
Was trying to figure a way to share a mic. Two radios. One mic. And I want the same mic to work the computer. How to do this and have PTT. is what I am investigating. Thanks for the resp.
@@ejo1960 There is a low and high for each input, put the aux out on your radio (the headphone out) to the high input on the mixer. It works great, same as if your a DJ and want to put a turntable or tape deck input into the mixer.
sorry for the late reply, I was on vacation. I added a small amp and speakers. I set it up for stereo so I could set which radio I wanted to go to which side of the desk. Works great and it is easy to tell which radio someone is talking on by where the sound is coming from.
I'm struggling with getting this right. I am trying to send the mixer output to the radio, so I can use a standard XLR mic for the radio. I've got an adapter that will work direct, but want it all thru the mixer.
you will need a push to talk switch for the radio, this can be a switch on the bench or a foot switch, then send the output of the mixer to the mic input of the radio
Most of the time it's the radio they are using, If it is a AM radio, the higher end units have effects built in. You could also run the tx audio thru a miser to clean it up and boost it or add a bit of reverb.
If you want to record your voice’s audio to the computer, along with receive audio, that’s not too difficult. Use a lapel mic, route that into the mixer and to the same PC recording the receive audio. Using an amateur radio desk mic with the mixer before it’s audio is going to be a little more difficult, but can be done. If you want some help let me know.
