Using a Dial Height Gage (Guage? Gauge?) 

that's 1-2-3 block, not to be confused with a gauge block which are little square rods, pucks or plates of various precision heights in a set thanks for the vid!

I have the same height gauge.....I use it alot more that I ever thought, for marking parts where to drill and and line up to weld...cheers from Florida....Paul
