I have the pedal baby, I def recommend it, since it’s class a/b it sounds more tube like than class d. So ya man I def recommend it. Plus u get more power at 16ohm and 8ohm than u would with class d. Unless you get a big power amp like the power stage from Duncan that’s like 700 watts. But ya man I run my irt15w studio rack head thru the pedal baby basically turning the 15w studio amp into a 100w amp. It’s fantastic
@@philfort7886 thru the effects loop. The irt15 studio rack head has a built in load. So you don’t need a cab plugged into in. So I run my od pedals in front of the irt15, then time effects go into the loop, but you only plug into the send of the irt, the return goes into the orange pedal baby. Then you use the orange to power your cabs. So basically you’re using the pre amp of the Laney, but the power amp is the orange. And I’ll tell you it works perfectly. I’ve been doing it for 3 yrs now. Never had a problem
I just grabbed a pedal baby. Damn! it is loud as fook. Now I can route my FX monitors or PA with a cab block Then using a splitter before the cab block to route the pedal baby and orange 212.
great video, can you do a comparison between the pedal baby and a "real" amp power? I am considering getting a pedal baby cause I don't like the sound of the quad through my amp power amp, so a comparison would be great just to get a sense of it. Thanks mate
Great vid, I'm just curious as I'm new to the modeler world, I'm ordering a quad cortex and also a zilla cab loaded with a celestion f12m-150 frfr speaker this month, and its looking likely I'll be going for the orange pedal baby. I see in this video you had to turn off the cab block on your quad cortex for a decent sound. would I have to similarly do the same with my set up (celestion f12m-150 frfr /zilla cab)? Just wondering because for me I'm getting the quad cortex to use the full range of amps/speakers/cabs it has built in to it. Thanks
@@JamieSlays cheers for the quick reply.....ye, with my old skool view of the amp world, what you said makes sense to me, to use the cab cab. But I was also thinking exactly what you just highlighted, with the frfr it maybe different. Only one way to find out I suppose, by getting the hands dirty 😬
My personal opinion- this sounds wayyyyy better than FRFR's. I bought a Foxgear Kolt 45 | I run that thru a 1 x 12 V30. Sounds amazing! I had a mission engineering Gem 1 and thought it sounded TERRBILE. Just my opinion. Awesome video!
This is interesting. So the pedal takes the place of a power amp for the 1x12 cabinet? How does it sound at low volumes? I'm looking for some speakers/cab to pair with my Quad Cortex and pedalboard for low-level home office playing.
The output of the quad is line level and to be used with a TRS cable. The pedalbaby expects a instrument level signal and an instrument cable. So, how do we stand here?
Thanks for doing this video. I have an orange pedal baby and run either a Mooer ge300 or helix through it but I always find I need to run the bass dial up full on the pedal baby to get the bottom end and punch other wise it sounds too bright and harsh. With bass and treble at 12 o'clock it sounds like like playing through an old AM radio
Use the amp and preamp than the preamp alone.. set the master volumes of the amp models down around 4 and the over channel volume to taste.. I keep mine high but not full. I run my Helix in front of amps on the clean channels with the clean channel eq's neutral.
Nice video , I use the return of my Marshall loop to run my units , I was thinking to try something like the pedal baby until I checked out the Fryette PS-2 , check that one out 👍
Is there not a risk of damaging your amp doing that? Just asking because I considered it as an option but am kinda scared to try it. I do sometimes run preamp distortion pedals into my return loop, but I keep the volume pretty low
@@JamieSlays Looking for a light "Metal Amp Set up" for Band try outs and gigs, lugging around a 4x12 and a heavy High Gain amp, with pedal board is hard on us old guys.
