Using an iWALK 3.0 in the Garden

Had Achilles tendon surgery last week and have some garden chores that I need to get done. Therefore, I bought an iWALK 3.0 from Amazon. My family has been helping a lot but, I want to be more self sufficient. Even before my surgery, I was using this thing and lifting 50 pound bags of chicken feed so not to further damage my tendon. I also have a knee scooter but, it is sitting parked in the corner of the house along with the crutches. About the only time I break out the crutches is when I take a shower because I don't want to get the soft pad of the iWalk wet.

Before you buy an iWalk, make sure you have decent balance, take it slow, and practice before you need it if you can.

Make sure you start out with a cane for a day or two to get use to it. I don't want you falling into a table saw. Happy woodworking!

I ABSOLUTELY love my iWalk. I've been stuck in a wheelchair for over a decade trying to get my foot fixed. I finally refused to stay in my chair and bought the iWalk2.0, atrophied muscles are getting stronger day by day. So sad the podiatrist/orthopedic offices don't immediately recommend this prosthetic..

Mine sure did help me as you could see. My physical therapist didn't know what it was until I brought it into the office. Keep getting better and more mobile!

Good luck with your surgery. Make sure you practice with a cane until you get use to the iWALK.

I do miss Australia, Melbourne was my favorite liberty port with Newcastle being a close second. Good luck with your Achilles, just remember to use a cane until you get good at the iWalk. It is sure better than having to use crutches everywhere you go. It go to the point where I could get the iWalk mounted in about 5 seconds.

Thanks, guy. I'm getting my right ankle fused on June 6th. No weight-bearing for 10 weeks. I'm going to go insane. Crotches? Walker? Scooter? After the hundred reviews I've watched about this iWalk, this is the device I'm going with. Hope it works to help keep me active. Thanks for this video. It was very helpful.

No worries. Just remember to use a cane for stability for the first couple days. Just the ability to carry something in your hands is worth it. Good luck with the surgery! Happy Gardening!

Thank you for making this practical use video for the iwalk 3.0. I just ordered one for my foot &ankle fusion surgery next month. I was worried how it would work outside. I will have time to practice & get used to using it before surgery.

Look at the "Freedom Leg" it may be a good option as well. The iwalk will burn out the knee fast

Hiya just wondering how did it go ?? I'm a bit scared keep looking at it & looking at it ! I'm planning to use it after my second op I suffered the most awful trimalleolar fracture The none weight bearing is killing me & hate traditional crutches &my flat is a tip .😢 Hope you're doing well now Best wishes from B'ham UK

Mr Moore Starts, I have a question: does the Iwalk put the weight of walking on your knee, thus giving you knee problems?

My physical therapist gave me some stretches and exercises to do prior to surgery to help out with my knee and hips with the iWalk. All I can tell you is it is so much less painful than the armpit crutch pain. Happy Gardening!

I really didn't have a limit. Took it to the local Farmer's Market and walked around for a couple of hours.

Some but not very much. My hip was killing me on the good side from the scooter that I had, especially going up hills. As long as I had the iWalk adjusted properly, it was like walking. My knee was use to working in the garden so it was only a little irritated. Happy Gardening!

Happened once off camera about a week later, down a step. Scared the crap out of me. Luckily I still had the cast on otherwise, I would have probably torn my Achilles again. Still, wish I could have got it on camera. Not too bad getting back up though. :)
