Let's talk Shiit! Shiitake that is! We recently got a whole grocery bag full of Shiitake mushrooms from our neighbor. There's no way I could eat them all before they spoiled. Here's how I am storing, dehydrating, and freezing them for later.

When I used to store shiitakes in plastic bags they went moldy within a day. I left them in the store package and again, they were moldy in a day. Now I use a paper bag with a folded paper towel in side....no mold. Thx for the instructional. You have a knack for it.

Thanks for the comment! The paper towel is a great addition to soak up that mold causing moisture.

@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse I'm from Minnesota and I also grow SHE-ta-ke mushrooms in the forest. (just watched a Japanese vid to hear how it's supposed to be pronounced)....

Oh for sure they can be grown all over. I live in Minnesota and we grow them here too. They aren't native to our continent however, they are native to East Asia.
