In todays video, we talk about how to use Animated Textures in Cinema 4D and After Effects to create a debossing effect. We also go over how to light and texture this scene. Massive help Ross, if only to confirm I was loading my image sequence correctly and that the problem was my After Effects file!

Thank you Scott! Yeah it's always the little things that throw you off - I tried to use a TIFF sequence recently and Redshift did not allow it. PNG for the win :)

Thanks for the tut. It is such a shame Redshift in Cinema does not support mp4/mov files like it does natively. Would make one less thing to do. Edit: I have been told that you can use a C4D texture which you can use the MP4 file through.

hey there -- having the same trouble; what do you mean by C4D texture?

Hi ross. When ı try to apply sequence as diffuse color, it doesnt work. It stuck at frame 1.What am I doing wrong? I did everything same, only the diffuse part is different.

Hi Ross, thanks for the tutorial, i'm actually working on a similar project also using c4d and redshift but i'm having some issues as soon as i try to animate my texture it appears totally blacked out whereas when i'm on a still texture the bump and all appears corectly on my render view, i don't think that it comes from my image sequence (in jpg) did you have some similar issues ? Best regards Kévin

Thanks for the tutorial Ross! Amazing as usual. Just for this technique, would it be possible to do with the volume builder instead?
@iamrossmason
@iamrossmason 4 года назад
Thank you Mickey! Yeah you could absolutely do this with a volume builder, just get the mesh you want to deboss and set it to 'subtract' :)

@@iamrossmason If you don't mind me asking, how is this technique any different from using the volume builder method? Thanks! Love your work btw
@iamrossmason
@iamrossmason 4 года назад
@@mickey1574 Yeah sure...I tried other techniques like using the volume builder or collision deformer, but they all slow down the viewport quite a lot, as well as requiring a very dense mesh to achieve good results. Using a texture like this allows the viewport to still perform well and doesn't require you to make dense meshes, which prevent the project from becoming too heavy. There are pros and cons to each technique but these were the main reasons I went for this one. Thank you for the kind words and the support, I really appreciate it! :)

8:10 If you're just looking for the part that actually shows how to get C4D to recognize the image sequence, that starts here.
