Nice! I like it when I hear cars being brought in Tuesday night at 10:30 and Wednesday morning I drive by the yard and see the long train ready to head east..the end of it sitting across Michigan St and just my luck I can see what I missed on the 'tube!
That pair of engines sounded pretty good. That high hood is unique, but I saw a Conrail high hood working today too. Okay, okay, I was in a Wegmans and happened to notice they had switched the Chessie engine for the Conrail. They also switched the direction. Hey, my granddaughter gets a kick out of seeing the cows in the consist. I thought the serendipity of seeing the two high hoods was worth a mention.
It was certainly a treat to see both Alcos running together again, and with a thirty-car train to boot! Any idea if the DL&W ran today? I'm hoping they didn't cuz I'd like to catch them tomorrow. 🤞
Alright, I'll take a drive by there in the morning and hope I see something. I know last week they had a big train but unfortunately they ran a day early so I didn't get to see it.
I've even see the Alco rs3 s chugging around too I live near the Delaware Lackawanna line, gone on excursions from scranton to the Delaware water gap in the past hope they come back with those in the future
Thank you! Yep, this railroad and the Delaware-Lackawanna in Scranton are both subsidiaries of Genesee Valley Transportation, along with the Depew, Lancaster & Western in Depew and Batavia, and the Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern in Utica!
sad that the company that used to own the rails and the company that built the locos arnt around any more . at least the rails havnt been scrapped nor the motive power.
Nothing lasts forever unfortunately. At least there are shortlines around to preserve these old workhorses and save rail lines that would have been torn out otherwise.
At 14:23 - 57 miles to Rochester? But Conrail scaled the line back to Brockport probably 40+ years ago. Nothing but trees from Owens road to the Genesee River, but if the rails stayed ya never know if anything would've built upon it.
@@briank.8925 Yes, I'm aware of what Conrail did to the line. In fact if they had it their way they would have torn out the line all the way to Medina. Those mile markers are from the New York Central days, which obviously pre-date Conrail.
