Very well done, Cat. I've always wanted to have such a feature in my PowerPoint presentations, and you've shown how easy it is to make it happen. I'm a big fan of your channel, and very happy to see you back. Thanks for the great video.
I'm so glad I came across this. I was looking for info on having my camera on in Teams while presenting a PowerPoint, but I like this method so much better and the tips you gave are on point! Thank you! 😎
Just came across your video and its exactly what I need. I must say this was a quality video and delivered professionally. I can see you're quite the expert. I hope my presentations turn out even half as good as yours. Many thanks. I have subscribed and will look out for further videos. 🙂
Well done. There is the same feature in Keynote for Mac and on tablet or smartphone since the new update on (iOS 16.0) Good way to look better on zoom or webinars or videoconferencing. Thanks for all ! Take care !
A gamechanger for me. Would have loved to have had this a few weeks ago when I was recording Holiday Specials for Rogers TV20. We share regular episodes @standrewsguelph livestreamed each Sunday. I'm not sure our Tech Team could use this but I definitely could start to use this feature for my various special recordings and unique episodes for Rogers TV20. Hey from Guelph, ON. Had no idea that you were nearby when I started watching your videos during the earlier part of the pandemic. Thanks for all you do. Great content! And love the balance you are modeling by taking a break and recalibrating! Awesome to have you back though.
great video however it doesnt explain a basic item- does this work only in a live chat or zoom- can you record the entire presentation with the video already inserted?
I use OBS: Play the PowerPoint slide presentation by just pushing the down page button to advance slides and have my talking head in the corner using a green screen - Only need two scenes - one w my talking head on the screen and one without my talking head as sometimes I want to be able to record the entire screen. Using just two buttons on my Stream Deck - one w my talking head showing and one without. Most of my slides are MP4 videos so PowerPoint is sometimes quirky but, we get it done.
Hi Cat, Thanks for your detailed video. Well done. Extremely helpful. Would you be able to make one with playback options. Am I able to do it slide by slide only? or Can I do multiple slides? Also Say i have 40 slides. I do few slides at a time save the file and then when I have done all off the slides am I able to export, it as a complete mp4 file?
Great to have you back for starters... Second, this feature is wonderful. I saw people go overboard with it and have themselves in e-ve-ry slide. Quite exhausting to be fair, especially when it is about theory. Like what you said. Also Keynote was a few months earlier with this feature. They are copying each others features. I still prefer Keynote over PowerPoint when it comes to ease of use. Thanks for sharing
For some reason fonts look crispier, creation of images from basic icons is easier or more intuitive. I know PPT is getting there, and most likely it has its advantages over Keynote (practicality/compatibility), but I just learned to live in Keynote for the last 4 years.
great! please, i do not have cameo button on my powerpoint when i click on insert. i got a macbook air m1 with Microsoft Powerpoint 16.87. can you help? thanks a lot
Awesome tutorial - thank you, thank you! I'm on a team project for school where everyone lives in a different city. Can we record slide by slide if the PPT is shared?
Dear Cat, it's good to have you back. Take good care of yourself anyway - we love to wait! One question: Camero does not appear as an icon, even though I have the current PowerPoint version 16.68. What is going wrong?
Has Elgato de-supported the Powerpoint functionality in Stream deck? it worked last week to move slide deck forward and back..... Now I just get the dreaded yellow triangle.
Hello Cat. I love your videos. So, would this method and tips work for a Live Zoom presentation (with PowerPoint)? I usually share screen in PowerPoint / Zoom. Thank you!
You can screen share your slides like usual and you will show up in the slides. My caution is that Zoom's screen share is not optimized for video, so it may not be quite as smooth as your regular video feed. My recommendation is to run a test meeting and record the slides and see how things go.
thanks. what i noticed when i do this is that the preview looks great but when i start recording, it is low res and so is the preview and exported video. how can i change the resolution of the recording? i tried it in the camera format but that just changes the size of the cameo, not the recording resolution. thanks!
I was excited to see your video. BUT does Cameo only work with live presentations? If I set a circular cameo and then record the presentation within PowerPoint, the resulting file shows a standard rectangular picture-in-picture of my talking head. :-(
Although PowerPoint has its uses I am not generally a fan, (even less so about paying a subscription). Your tip about looking into your frame is definitely always something to be aware of. I think all of this might be more controllable by using OBS, importing the PP presentation, projecting to a virtual screen, (requires multi monitor output), and using Zoom to Share a Screen, (achieving the same high resolution). What do you think? What was the measurable objective? ps: Might Timex be considering a trademark suit?
Personally, I do prefer using streaming software to create scenes (like OBS, as you say). I think this option works well for those getting started with this approach. Learning to navigate OBS, slides, and web conferencing can be a lot for beginners!
Does anyone know how to record a PowerPoint video using Cameo, but not have your recording on every slide? When I hit record, my video recording appears on every slide. I would like to pick and choose which slides my video recording apppears on.
Can anyone tell me after you have inserted in a cameo you can take it off? I can't remove it. I can turn on camera but I can't take it off the slide please help?
Transitions can also carry meaning and clarify. For example, maybe I have two slides where one resembles the other, which can create a mild illusion that nothing has changed when you advance the slide (granted, this should be address at design phase, but not always practical). If I change the color or layout just a bit and add a transition, it cues the eye that this is different information. Conversely, a BIG transition like a wipe to black to next signals the audience the topic has changed. Also: I use morph transition often. But the name is a misnomer! Most often I use it to *avoid* a jarring slide change. I use it to avoid "transition", to make the ideas flow organically by having literal objects flow organically.
Super helpful-thank you! Side note: Do you know of any way to add a cameo-style camera feed to your screen share when delivering a live presentation in-person? Like, imagine doing a software demo in a giant ballroom where only those up-front can see your face. Wouldn't it be amazing to overlay your live camera feed while demonstrating Photoshop or some other app? Do you know of any way to pull that off?
If you were showing slides, it would work the same as long as the computer with your slides was connected to a camera source on your face. If you were doing a live demo or training with a different software (not slides), then I would use a streaming software with a screen share and camera overlay (OBS or Ecamm Live would both work). The output of the streaming software would be sent to the screens.
Cat - my question is how to eliminate Cameo from all slides. It just appeared, I didn't ask for it, it is an unwanted guest. I will be showing my presentation on Zoom, and will show my face there. As it is, it is distracting and getting in the way of the slide material. I just want it gone.
I create multiple scenes in Ecamm, each one adds a new bullet point. I create the first bullet, then duplicate the scene, duplicate the first bullet (then remove the animation on the first bullet), and edit the new bullet. Keep repeating for each additional bullet.
@@CatMulvihill Thank you for answering my question. I appreciate it. So far, I like to cameo functions and hopefully there will be some additional features.
Separate question. Can you tell me where the videos get stored in case I'd like to use them in a different project? I can copy them but cannot find the file location.
hi problem, using mac, the cameo picture changes position, I want it top left, first slide ok, rest of slides it drops to bottom right. I saw on youtube somewhere, 'select all'. as i can't locate 'select all' not possible. Do you know how to fix it one position for all the slides. thanks
