The world is ablaze with talk about the power of AI and specifically ChatGPT. In tonight's LiveStream, I'm going to try and create a lesson plan for teaching using the tool.
This will be live - so who knows what will happen! Will it be useful? Will it be a bust?
I'll be using the BOPPPS Model for the lesson plan - so we'll try to have ChatGPT help us with each of the steps in this lesson planning model.

About…me.
Hello there - I'm glad you've taken the time to look at my videos and this description box!
My name is Frank and I've been teaching post-graduate programs in technical subjects for almost 25 years. My Master's Degree is in Learning and Technology (from Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC - where they filmed the X-Men movies!).
I'm a Microsoft Certified Trainer (since 1998), a Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (since 1999), and have a lot of different technical certifications (I even had my own consultancy and was a member of the Apple Consultants Network for a few years. I like technology a lot.
I've been fascinated with learning and how to improve learning for years. Especially how to leverage technology for learning. From productivity Applications like Teams, OneNote, Excel, and the entire Microsoft Office suite to tools such as Mindmapping, Metaverse, VR, AR, and more - I like to see how we can use tools to leverage our ability to teach and learn.
Learning and Technology RU-vid is about helping students and teachers improve their learning by leveraging technology tools. Whether remote teaching, distance learning, hybrid teaching, or completely in the classroom - we can use technology to enhance our skills. This channel is dedicated to developing teaching and personal productivity when it comes to learning and technology. Thank you for watching!

This is truly exciting! I agree that when writing the lesson plan it is very helpful to have background in that topic. This would be an excellent tool for teachers to start their lesson plan about an objective and to also dig deeper into specific topics within an objective. As teachers we cannot completely ignore the new technology our students are exposed to daily. I grew up with the old encyclopedias, whereas students, including myself, today just Google a topic. Just the word Google is thought more of as a verb, to search, than a noun, the company. Times change. We can embrace this technology and use it to help our students become more successful.

Try this prompt to grade written work : Evaluate this text titled " ", which attempted to answer the question “ ?”, based on: Content (Relevance 10 points, Clarity 10 points, Depth 10 points, Accuracy10 points, Originality 10 points) relying on examples from the text; and English (Clarity 10 points, coherence10 points, Style10 points, Mechanics 10 points, Variation in Vocabulary 10 points ). Count the total number of words. Be very strict! Calculate a cumulative score out of 100. Offer bullet-point feedback on how to improve this text relying on examples from the text (refer to the author as “you’’).

I created all my PE lesson plans for middle school with chatGPT.

WOW! That is really cool! I think it generates some great results - but also think it needs to be reviewed to ensure they are appropriate - but it sure seems to be a time-saver and helpful.

Thank you Frank. It may seems a little bit funny, but one of my friends used ChatGPT to write a letter to Immigration Service of Canada to persuade them for giving visitor visa to his family.

Great video. I'm still trying to frame ChatGPT as a new spellcheck. If this becomes the new normal, how can we still train students to learn critically. So I appreciate the in-depth look, rather than a sky-is-falling mentality. One clarification for those who are interested. I think some of the query failures were because the query was too long, asking for a # of pages and not for a # of words. I was successful asking for a "write a 200 word essay about the death of a salesman." As mentioned, it's tough multitasking while live.

Thanks! You are correct about using pages instead of words - after the LiveStream, I did the Death of a Salesman “rap” as words and the results were really good! I just released the video on the danger that we face around citations with the tool and am scripting another relating it to Bloom’s Taxonomy. It’s really fascinating and has potentials and pitfalls - but we can use it well I believe. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment too - I appreciate it!

Excellent! Any tips on how to ask ChatGPT to create lesson plans for middle school students instead of adult learners?
@LearningandTechnology
@LearningandTechnology Год назад
Absolutely. It’s all in the prompt you supply - so if you state the grade level it will generate a result for that grade. It’s frightening and fantastic all at the same time 😀

It really is. It’s sort of magical - but I’m not sure if it’s good or bad magic! Haha

Couldn you copy and paste 2000 words about the life in Toronto,etc, to chatgpt and ask, please make 10 questions multiple choice?

You could - ChatGPT can create assessments as well. They definitely would need to be reviewed and adjusted, but may be a quick start or reenforcement activity
