Those monthly credits are a really smart way for these lenders to get positive value from customers who have a lot of credit cards to balance. It's inevitable that at some point if you have a bunch of cards, you're gonna have monthly credits that you forget about. This was a super in-depth video Kevin. Great work!

Yeah, actually reminds me of store gift cards haha! As much as I hope that trend doesn't continue, feels like it's an easy way for these companies to keep their cards top of mind. Thanks for watching Spencer!

Beginners should just aim for no annual fee cards. Most annual fee cards are not worth it, even if you are maximizing the credits.
@KevinYang
@KevinYang Год назад
I agree, especially for beginners who aren't looking to jump into the deep end! That and having no AF cards as your oldest cards will help you keep them open with no cost, improving your credit score!

I actually really enjoy paying attention to those recurring credits/benefits. It makes me feel special . So I guess I'm really under the credit card companies spell 😵

They're definitely interesting to keep up with, it's like a game sometimes haha

Great video. I'm a college student and I'm only 18 and I have the discover it secured card and the cap one savor one, probably gonna wait till after college to get the venture x as my next card
@KevinYang

That's an awesome progression Joseph! Keep it up! What has you most excited about the Venture X?

Hey, I’m the same as you. 18 year-old college student with the same 2 cards, discover secured and the Savorone. My next plan is to get the chase trifecta since that would be great for early player in the credit card game. Currently at 2/24. I’m considering venture x too but for a college student, they would most likely deny you since you don’t have enough credit history and definitely you would need a high income for it. Do you have any plans for your next card?

Definitely important to use the cards the right way to maximize the value you get! But also realizing that mistakes aren’t the end of the world!
@KevinYang
@KevinYang Год назад
Yup! As long as you understand what you are and aren't getting from the card, and it still makes sense, that's all that matters!

I feel you on that $50 hotel credit from the Sapphire Preferred. I'll be able to use it, but other hotel booking websites are always cheaper than the Chase portal
@KevinYang
@KevinYang Год назад
Yeah it definitely varies! Worth a second check anytime you need to book something tho, just in case!

Absolutely super important to make sure you are using your credits each month, like on the AMEX Gold, with companies making it tougher to use. When calculating effective fee, important to make sure these are purchases that you would have already needed to spend money on anyway. Great video Kevin!
@KevinYang
@KevinYang Год назад
For sure! Missing a credit here and there is okay if it still gives enough value! Thanks Matt! What's your favorite credit card credit?

I currently have the Capital One duo and just got the CSR for the intro bonus. I would love to run more cards, but I know I wouldn't be able to keep track of them, so I'd probably lose out in the end, even if I'm leaving money on the table.
@KevinYang
@KevinYang Год назад
Exactly, some people just aren't suited for tons and tons of cards (me included), but the options are there for those who are! How are you loving the CSR so far?
@scottshapiro2795
@scottshapiro2795 Год назад
I think I'll eventually downgrade into the CSP just to have access to the Chase ecosystem. I like the 1.5x back for travel, but most of the multipliers I already have covered with the cap one duo. And I'm already heavily invested in cap one as I've have the Venture card for years before upgrading to the Venture X.
@KevinYang

@@scottshapiro2795 Don't forget you would qualify for another Sapphire bonuses 48 months later too! And I agree, having access to the Chase ecosystem is amazing

Hey Kevin, I have the CSR and wife has the CSP. We have primary rental car insurance coverage. My question is, does that only apply to real rental car companies like Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo, etc. Or does it also work on Turo? I'm booking two Turo trips and I need to know if I can decline the insurance that is provided through Turo? Thank you

Is 4x really better than a 3% cash back card? I feel like the biggest lacking spot for Amex is the less than 1% cash back.
