Fun fact, Nagoriyuki super at max range will "unsplat" the opponent, so you can add more 2-3 hits before breaking the wall.

It's also a bit of a comeback mechanic that doesn't give the "disadvantaged" player a powerful checkmate tool.

There is also a hidden 10% damage boost during the positive meter gain. Not very noticeable but doing some extra damage each hit is always appreciated.

I think the wall break is really smart. Certain characters struggle badly in the corner, and it's something that is especially frustrating for newer players. Strive still heavily rewards you for cornering your opponent, they just get to play the game a bit after getting stuck in the corner early in a match.

maybe because im coming from tekken but im biased into thinking wall breaks are sick. also i play sol so fafnir/tyrant rave feels fucking GOOD when those break it

It’s 2 things about the wall break that make it controversial. You don’t know exactly when it’s going to break as midscreen combos also make the wall health go down. The other is that certain characters who want to stay on top of the opponent have are forced to return to neutral if they don’t have meter. In Tekken, it’s obvious when you are getting a wallsplat most of the time and on top of that, you get the wall damage and the oki.

One bit of info you missed about the Positive Bonus: you get a 10% damage buff while you get that passive meter gain. Edit: I noticed that in the tutorial, it mentions an attack buff and a defense but. So it could also incur a 10% defense body as well. I okay gio, so that means that I could have +20% attack and defense if I have full meter which is pretty great at fighting through guys at that point in a match

Im not any good I think but, the wall to me is all about momentum. Im trying to come up with good combos as I-no that let me carry the opponent into the corner and hopefully wallbreak. Once I do, I will try to be extra agressive and its all about the tension gauge. Every character is so extreme from eachother that they all will find some use for each roman cancel. I figured out that Yellow Roman Cancel is incredible for I-no, just turn the tables back with a mixup instantly. Basically, in a way, you want to snowball your round. Im actually tempted to incorporate Gold Bursting early just to have the resource to hopefully wallbreak which will continue my resource that will overwhelm the opponent. This is mostly theory for me, I cant really do this flawlessly, but thinking about the tension gauge and momentum in this way really made me appreciate the wallbreak.

I think the only time passive tension gain was a thing was survival mode as a power up. The only thing Isuka does better than primary guilty gear is: Kakusei GG Boost(better than judgement's!) Robo Ky MKII Having a good dog(playable/better dog than Gio's) Having trash artwork Hurry Somebody Up ???? Using the Playstation 2 Multitap thanks for coming to my TED Talk. :^)

Only certain moves should cause a wall splat so if you don't want it you can stay in the corner

That would defeat the whole point, which is to reset to neutral as often as possible since that's where most of the interesting decisions and interactions *between* the players happens. The wall break isn't there to reward you-- it's there to go "okay, you've reached the pressure cap, here's a little extra damage and some bonuses to reward you, but now we're resetting to neutral. Can you do it again?" It both helps a weaker player get out of being endlessly combo'd and emphasizes the importance of neutral play. If it were to become optional, it could only be optional on the defending player's side as a choice between _keep getting pummeled and look for an opening_ and _reset to neutral but they're going to have even better offense._ Making it optional for the attacker would just be the worst of both worlds.

dont know if this was mentioned in the comments but along with the passive meter gain you also remove your meter burn penalty like you mentioned on your video about RC's I feel a good point would be to mention that you also get more opportunities with this since now you can RC to win neutral and then RC again mid combo with time to still super depending of course on your character.

Players always meme DoA isn't a real fighting game but, in that game, wall breaks/ring outs gives so much mad damage that it's always 100% worth to break the wall... in this game, its not that much of damage but I do like to reset neutral again with the slight bonus damage n free meter regen

Nah they are good for pressure and for Zato specifically P is useful for getting out of pressure cuz his buttons lose to a lot of others at certain ranges so u gotta mash 5p at the right time to get out and start pressure. I was against the changes at first but now i think its ok. If they changed gatlings theyd have to change the entire combo system and rescale damage. The whole game is based on it so i wouldnt expect it to change just try and figure out the uses for those buttons on ur character.

At first I barely pressed them, then I hit a wall against some opponents and I noticed how often a P or K made me lose my turn. Started doing a lot better once I learned when and how to use them. Not as good as older GG but still important.

Forgot to mention how breaking wall with super gives a hard knockdown after the area shift. Makes a big difference.

1:53 this mechanic did exist before, but only as one of Fausts rarer items. He had a fish cake that would give you higher meter gain for the rest of the round

I can think of a few mechanics that I haven’t really cared for, but one of the things that made me the angriest was the fact that there’s a decent amount of moves in Soulcalibur VI that leave you negative on hit. I’m sure there’s reason behind it to stop from abusing moves or whatever, but when I used to play it I remember saying some scrubby ass shit like, “This is the only game I’ve ever played where when I land hits I’m the one that needs to block the mixup!” Eventually I just accepted it, and looked up all of the frame data so I knew to be cautious after specific attacks.

Reversals are strong in this game because of DP RC, so I feel like wall break is better against DP characters.

@@happycamperds9917 it's a pretty large margin, from what I saw some random twitter post say, about 8 frames. so if you try to grab their DP you'd get dp'd for trying to grab them, and can't tech their wake up grab. or at least, I don't know how teching a wake up grab would work yet, you probably could, but that's the best outcome for trying to grab a person who's played gg for awhile on wakeup.

I didn’t like the wall much. But after learning that breaking the wall with a super gives a hard knockdown made me like it more. As a Leo player I can dash up run through after a super wall break which makes the return to neutral a more favorable position.

You mentioned some characters don't want to wall break because they want knockdown, but neglected to mention that you should be able to get oki from the knockdown after a super breaks the wall. I find that a bit odd, in my experience you always want to break the wall if you have super but if you don't you wanna just knock them down and take oki untill you get the meter to super.

Positive Bonus is akin to old Tension Pulse as well as how it is built up. Wall breaks simply set the Pulse rate to absurdly high and usually triggers it. Much like old Tension pulse the gains for having it are crazy. TP didn't build it passively but it did grant almost 50% gains iirc

He doesn't have many wallbreak moves and the ones he does have are useful to break with in context. None of his busters break the wall so if you just want to grab repeatedly you can. Heatknuckle already blasts enemies full screen so the wall breaking is just additional damage and meter gain for the same net positional effect. Garuda impact combos are already done not fully in the corner so you are essentially losing pressure you never really had.

Faust super doesn't even wallbreak. Most of his bnb combos don't wall break either without prior wall damage. Arcsys messed him up.

Is there any indication that you're close to a wall break? Like if the opponent is in wall splat, can I opt to do 2D and get the knockdown without breaking it if I feel I'm gonna have a problem in neutral?

Wall break is also just wierd cuz u never know when its going to break and sometimes u spend meter for a longer combo and it breaks and the meter is wasted.

@@maxrusty3596 been playing fighting games since like 98-01' one of those years is when I started in arcades! It seems obvious the wall break is based on what move is being used here, basically if you're using light attacks that cause a wall bounce then it takes longer for the wall to break compared to heavier attacks etc etc. That's just off of observation, the game has also only been out for 2 days? Give it time and the players will figure out the wall better! Sure you do a long combo only for as you say "your meter to be wasted" when in reality after breaking the wall you go into a positive bonus rapidly gaining that meter back incentivize players to break that wall!

I would only like the wall if I still maintained oki/knockdown on the next screen. Why the hell would I want to return to neutral if I tried so hard to get them in the corner and have pressure??? Even with a keep-away character like Axel, having corner pressure is ALWAYS ADVANTAGEOUS. I'm somewhat of a casual fighting game fan and even I know this. All this does is want me NOT TO BREAK the wall.

You get damage boost + meter gain + tension pulse when you do it, your character becomes incredibly strong. If this is an issue for you you're going to have to try to explore routes that swap sides to delay the break until you have a super so you get the down again.

I think IT is maybe too early to Judge the game Play because ecceopt for élite players ,more Casual gas to adapt. Im a a trash actuslly and learn , Do the same 2 or 3 thinks too best you, even me im bired but thinks are better than Tuesday . I cant prononce myself about the game IT is too soon

The wall break should leave the one sent flying in a hard knock down state so that the player that broke the wall still has his turn and gets another oki mixup. Its annoying when u finally corner a ram and then the wall breaks, resetting the encounter.
