Hey Tim - these "One Minute Tips" are great! There are thousands of fly tying videos on the net but most assume that the tier is experienced, nice to see someone addressing the basics! Perfect timing as my (10 year old) granddaughter is learning to tie her own flies. We watch every one of your tips together then she is off to practice. Cheers! Hank

Great tip. I was taught to use half hitches at each step in tying a fly. It really helps when you go to tie in your next material, especially if you need to use a loose wrap. It also saves you if you happen to break your thread at some point. I can’t believe I see very few good fly tiers that use them.

A bobbin I have has a tendency to break 8/0 so I use this whenever it happens haha

Great tip! I've been doing this for years. Especially on scud hooks and midge ties. Thanks for the great videos!

Watching fly tying videos recently and the Tyler created a knot for similar purpose that was very easy also but was not a half hitch. He did this by forming a small loop with his left finger similar to a dubbing loop then going twice around the hook with his tying thread then placing the loop over the eye of the hook as with this half hitch and tightening the thread. Very secure.

Just a suggestion, I think it would be a great idea to make fly fishing videos where you go fishing.
