In this episode Jeff will discuss how research recently conducted at Rutgers University has shed light on the impact interception devices have on low level bed bug infestations (less than 10 bed bugs). This research demonstrated that 50% of low level bed bug infestations can be eliminated solely through the installation of interception devices around the bed and along the baseboards throughout homes. While we do not suggest using only interception devices to solve bed bug infestations, this data can help reduce the amount of pesticides needed to control bed bugs as well as demonstrate how important early detection is in reducing cost and effort to solve problems.

Never had them until I worked on several HUD homes....wow what a surprise when you realize you have them! I literally dismantled my room down to removing the baseboard and I can tell you this, those glue boards DO NOT catch them, they walk right over them and get off of them. The moats work and so does the CIMEXA dust. Diatomaceous is a joke. You won't get rid of them unless you are absolutely obsessive compulsive about ever millimeter of existence in your living space. 8 months later I still am paranoid as heck over having them still, but have seen literally no signs on my spot checks for well over 6 months now. Still have bumps on my head occasionally, but I think it's my dandruff shampoo that causes it, but still waking up with a LED light looking like a crackhead would for rock he dropped every time I feel a tickle in the middle of the night.

You say diatomaceous is a joke? Really?

@@larrylake870 Diatomaceous earth alone won't cut it! I used chemical spray and the diatomaceous earth to spray inside of the receptacle/switches/boxes....etc. where you would not spray a liquid and where they may go. They can get under the carpet so spraying at the borders of your walls is important...everything, everywhere...it's a full on mental uphill battle to think of all the places they can be. I found them on the edges of magazines I had in a book case with a glass door in front of them 3 feet beyond the foot of my bed. They stay close typically, but they can migrate if the grow in numbers. Good luck with that nightmare if you get them or have them. It was a mental stress big for the next year after I got rid of them...because you don't know you have gotten rid of them fully as they can live that long and every little tickle you feel like a hair moving or whatever in the middle of the night...you swear ones on you and you will wake up, flash lights, flip mattresses and look for them like someone on drugs looking for a little bit more of something. Horrible experience I know that!

Thanks for the video Jeff. I'm looking forward to using monitors more often in the future.

Will it stop them from getting on to your bed while you sleep at night?

Hi , I have a question , something it’s bitting me but they are not many bites and usually are scattered , so I have one on my neck , one on my upper leg and 2 on my back they are very itchy for a week , ( the history of bitting started in March this year , they bit me for the first time in about 20 places , after that they stopped for about 7-10 days and than again bit me about 7 bites , stopped again for 7-10 day and now again 5 bites ) I checked the bed and around the bed but nu signs of bed bugs , no stains , nothing and sometimes they bit me at work . I’m gonna see a doctor Monday but can you tell me please if it’s still possible to be bed bugs ?! Thank you

I'm dealing with a bed bug problem. My daughter had bites shortly after I moved into this apartment... but there were no other signs of bed bugs that I could see. I took her to a doctor one month later. They prescribed a cortisone cream. No diagnoses. Not long after I find out the neighbors below me have them. What you are describing sounds like what I have experienced. I hope I'm wrong.

The doctors likely will not know. It is better to get a bed bug sniffing dog who are trained to identify the scents of the pheromone released by the bed bugs. And I was the only person in my family who was showing bites and my bites were rarely in 3s. The dog handler to me that the bites are manifested differently even on the same person pending the person's diet/drink that day while up to 70% of the population do not show signs of bites WHILE getting bites. So, chances are, you have though I hope it is not.
