Updates: I clicked over to 10,000 subscribers overnight, woohoooo!! 😆 I also found the cat painting about a week after uploading this video; I had stored it in my 365 days of drawing book for "safekeeping" and didn't notice it in there for a shamefully long time. The book is even in this video, with the cat painting inside the front cover...I didn't notice it at all. It finally fell out a few days later and I went "THERE it is!!" 😂
Congrats on 10k subs, Becky 🎉 I'm glad everything is alright and you weren't affected by the fires (except for a stressful evacuation that is). Shame though you lost the cat drawing, it's gorgeous. But maybe your dad has already hung it up at his place? :) I'd love to see you do another painting with the Golden Open Acrylics. They look awesome!
Thank you so much, it was a lovely thing to wake up to - I'd been watching the counter for a few days, haha! I also found the cat painting a few days ago, tucked safely in a book, lol!!
@@BeckyTregear isn't that so typical? something showing up in the most obvious place, but you never thought of looking there? 😂 happens to me all the time 🤣
Hi Becky, I am glad you are doing well on RU-vid as an artist. You are a great artist. I am also glad you found your cat painting. How is your Dad doing? Well, take care and stay cool.
Congratulations on your 10 K subscribers. Thank you very much for this review to. I can’t wait till it comes to Australia Amazon. Please keep us updated. I love your paintings as well.
Fun! I'm surprised how well the Golden Open Acrylics managed to stay useable. That's great! I have yet to open mine. Soon! I really love that 365 Days book series. I thought about buying it but I have so many classes that I still need to get through that I decided to put them on my Christmas Wishlist instead. Lol.
At least you have the video of the cat painting. The one thing I learned from the Marie Kondo book is taking a photo or video of something makes it easier to let it go like my artwork.
This is a cool little art box (I like this much better than your other mega-expensive kickstarter purchase.) I had missed your unboxing video, so it’s the first time I’ve seen this little gadget!
Oooh yes please. Do a video on the open acrylics. I’ve just bought a bundle for painting dogs as my normal acrylics dry before I can even blend on the paper. Your cat is so cute!
I think you'll really love them - the ability to blend the paints on paper for an extended time makes such a big difference, to enjoyment as well as painting quality!
Is your dad an artist as well? Im so glad that youre able to spend time together. Thanks for another great video. This system is a super cool product. Much ❤ from Nashville TN USA 🇺🇸 😎
Thank you, and yes he is. He has a lot of art supplies too, so I like to raid his stash when I'm over there visiting. I have given him heaps of stuff as well from my studio, lol.
Hi, Becky! Thank god you and your family are safe and positively recuperating from the ordeals of last weeks. I have a true story to share with you, kinda tangent to your Golden Open acrylics. Disclaimer: I am not sponsored by any of the brands mentioned below. About ten years ago I attended an art workshop, in which the instructor was demonstrating the versatility of the Chroma Atelier Interactive acrylics (I think it is an Australian brand?). If I understood correctly, these paints should be similar in properties with the Open acrylics, in that they are supposed to remain wet and workable for a long time. The instructor gave us each a plastic plate (to use as a palette) with big dollops of the 12 colors in the set, to exercise and work with during the class. Now, personally, I only use the regular acrylic paints either from Golden or Liquitex, so I had no idea what to expect from these particular paints. At the end of the session we were all left with a lot of paint on the palettes. She taught us to cover it with plastic wrap for the transport home, so we could enjoy the paints later on, in our own studios. Arrived home, I put the plastic wrapped palette in a cabinet in my studio and I forgot all about it. Years later (yes, years!) when we had to pack all our things for a house move, I discovered the forgotten palette. The blobs of paint were still wet, no mold, no change, ready to go! I kid you not. Oh, and I live in California, in a very dry climate. Apologies for the rant. Cheers!
Wow, that's amazing that they were still wet! Chroma are indeed an Australian company, and now I'm going to have to look into them some more after finding this out. I thought Golden Open were the only slow-drying acrylic paints out there. How intriguing....thank you for sharing your story! ❤
@@BeckyTregear my pleasure, thank you for taking the time to read. Even though I didn’t work with them since then, I understand that this series (Interactive) is of professional quality, plus they have different mediums for different looks and techniques. Good luck in your search! I hope it won’t be a waste of your time. ❤️
So glad to hear your dad is doing well. Congratulations on the 10,000! Enjoyed watching your paint play time. Dang … now I need to try golden acrylics. Never dipped my toe in acrylics so looking forward to trying something new. Fun video.
Thank you so much! I really don't much care for regular acrylics because they always dry before I'm ready. The Golden ones are soooo much nicer! Also very expensive. 😭
woohoo 10k subs!! You so deserve them all, what a fabulous channel this is, gutted for your lost cat art that was stunning! And now I have an idea for painting something when I don't know what to paint, I'll just colour block little squares and put mini art in them! Great inspiration for when I feel uninspired, the Kydrufi all in one modular box seems less of a faff now, I guess you just have to get used to it all :D
Thank you so much! I was very excited to see the 10K this morning ❤ Good news: I found the cat painting many days later, safely tucked away in a book, haha! I'm really loving this modular box, it's proving very useful, and also easy to use once I had it all figured out.
🥰 Congrats on reaching 10k! Hope I got that right. “K/k” You’ve earned it. I love your videos and look forward to the next. They’re always so much fun to watch. I have two others in that book series and realize now I should have gotten the drawing one. 🥰 I 😅say to myself, “oh well, it’ll all work out in the end,”😅 to every “to be completed project” that confronts me. Yikes. Those books can be very personal and reach deep 😌 And I highly recommend them 💞. Thank you for sharing this. 🌺
Thank you and yes I woke up to 10K this morning! 😆 I found more books on sale (Creativity and Feel Good Art) so I guess I have three years' worth of them now, lol! 😂
Congratulations on the 10,000, well done. Loved the cat painting. Would really like to see more on the Golden Open acrylics. Becky having fun, a grungy mess 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 have a great weekend
I am using a shopping cart I got from the chef supply store near South Melbourne Market to go to life drawing today. Just taking the A3 pads and my art supplies.
Ooh I know that store! We used to live in St Kilda Rd and went to South Melbourne Market a lot, back in the day. I went to that chef store at least once.
I was going to say look in the book for the cat painting!😂 You’re brave putting in the open paints! I would like to know how they go. I’m up at my father’s at the moment and packed the back of the car with art supplies, even tho I’ve left a heap up here, and my dog and my cat…I can’t pack lightly😂
The paints are still fine in there, yay! Haha I can never pack lightly. But my dad has a lot of art supplies too, so I can get away with taking less and using some of his things, heheh.
Congrats for so many subs Great work hon xxx Love your art work it is Awesome . sorry about your paint spillage. but glad you made cool stuff. Really Happy you found your cat painting too. Lovely Video ,happy Swatching xxxxx
Thank you so much! It isn't the first time I've dropped paint like that, and I'm sure it won't be the last. 😂 Cat painting is now safely in the finished art folder, yay!
I enjoyed video found it interesting and informative also using the small cooler to transport this set was a great idea..maybe the company who designed this set will take your recommendation on making tops for the water holders..they could sell them separately or with the set..your creative art pieces were lovely i really enjoy the colors..
Congratulations on hitting 10K Becky! Albeit a little late but happy for you! This is such a good idea if I had more table space to lay them out but knowing my German Shepherd, he will probably knock things over anyway 😅 I think if they were able to make this a more compact/smaller size, it will be a great kit for plein air! PS. So brave of you to put acrylic paints in there 😂 I would probably be panicking because I would be so worried that it has dried without my knowledge inside. They can be notoriously hard to get off plastic palettes sometimes
Thank you so much! Pets are great at getting into things they shouldn’t, haha. Also, these are very slow drying acrylics and they’re still going weeks later with no issues. I wouldn’t trust regular acrylics though, as I think they’d dry out pretty quickly.
Thank you for your video. You mentioned using oil paint instead of acrylic, I’m wondering if oil mixable oil paint would be good as you don’t have to carry solvent. I’ve bought Schmincke’s Norma Blue and so far so good, and a travel set like yours might be just the ticket. Cheers.
Haha! But don't knock the old jam jars - they're great too! I have quite a lot in my studio, and one in particular is absolutely filthy because of how much it has been used over the years, lol.
Really nice paintings! It's not for me, but the carry all box is really cool. I hope you enjoy using it! I like the big water cup feature. I always tell my husband to look out for brush cup/washers at thrift shops and he brought home one recently for three dollars. Can't beat a bargain like that. Cheers! 👍🎨
Regular acrylics will probably dry too quickly, so that's why I went for the slow-drying Open acrylics. Weeks later and they're still completely wet in the box - I make sure to keep the lid on when not using them. 😊
@@PeachykraftGolden Open Acrylics; they're the only ones I know that exist. They're not exactly cheap, but they are top quality and I love them so much - they're a game changer!
The paper that comes with this box is working better with gouache, as it doesn't seem as porous as other papers I've used in my other wet palette. I think some of them are designed to use with paints that dry quickly, and so they make the gouache melt into puddles very quickly. Had I not upended the box on the floor, I think it would have been fine to keep in there for much longer, haha! I'll try again with a new batch. 😄
I found the cat picture again! It was hiding inside one of my books and eventually fell out when I opened it many days later, lol! The unit is proving very useful for filming purposes, as it's nice and compact, so fits easily on my desk and doesn't get in the way. 😄
That's what I did in the video.....😉 But also the Golden Open acrylic tubes are large and if you have limited space when travelling, then it's easier to squeeze paints into the box first and leave the tubes at home.
