Using NVFlash to Flash VBIOS on NVIDIA GPUS - 1080 ti Example

Also, for anyone wondering... I MSI's bios is fully compatible. No HDMI audio issues or weird glitches. The minimum fan speed for the Zotac bios was 37%. Now with the new MSI bios my card is silent!

Based on your comment i dared and went ahead with msi armors bios on the zotac mini. And there is no 4k resolution available anymore. (ddu, driver reinstalled, no 4k) Only 1080p max. fan stop worked though. Sadly i had to flash back the original, and 4k res is available again.

will the screen still go black if im using video out on my mobo? My 1070 wont post so id be going into mobo bios, switching to IGPU or whatever and follow the steps while using integrated

what if my CPU doesn't have integrated (aka. onboard) graphics? Should I flash bios via USB from there?

@@shadow10331 I had a i5 6600k when i've done that , so i guess u don't need onboard graphics.

@@bogdanbg did your process require to disable the graphic card in device manager? The instruction I read required that but i don't have onboard graphic (cpu = 10700f) so i doubt i will be able to proceed lol

on the motherboard there is so called shunt resistor which only allow to mantain 90w. To change the wattage u must desolder that resistor and put anotherone. there is a guy on yt who has a special channell for this mod.

@Lukasss yeah so I looked into the specs more and the Asus one didn't support uefi which my laptop uses so I tried a standard Nvidia 3060 bios for like 90w instead but that didn't work because it started saying it couldn't find a Nvidia display. I also tried on the nvflash patched version and it didn't work either. So after all this I'm gonna take the fact that my card still works as extreme luck and stop playing Russian roulette for a while

If you are running cards in sli you need to specify the index number. To view the list of cards and index numbers, the number in the is the index number. nvflash64 --list Then flash the bios to each card using the index number. nvflash64 -6 --index=0 BIOSfilename.rom nvflash64 -6 --index=1 BIOSfilename.rom

@@supersoniclightiffy no, i sold them both cheap to someone which wanted to buy them like that.

So the file structure when you download nvflash is different now compared to when this video and the pdf instructions were made. I followed the commands but changed them slightly so they will work. When you unpack the zip folder it has two folders in it now, x64 and x86. They both have the nvflash.exe file inside, but the former is for 64 bit operating systems and the latter is for 32 bit windows (I think?). All I know for sure is that the nvflash.exe file in the x64 folder is the one I needed to use for my windows10 system. It threw an error saying I was running the 32bit version when I copy pasted the one from x86. So use x64 if you are on 64 bit windows10 like me! But they are both called nvflash.exe now unlike in the video where it is called nvflash64.exe. Also since they are in their own folders so following the original instructions won't even work as the command prompt won't be able to find the file. So to fix this I copy pasted the nvflash.exe out of the x64 folder into the base folder of nvflash that we create in the c drive. I put my vga card's bios .rom file in there with it too, like the file structure in the video. So modified this way, we can get to the nvflash folder in the command prompt exactly as originally instructed, but the following commands are modified to work with the slightly different nvflash file name (just minus the 64 part, you'll see). Steps: Open up command prompt, make sure to run it as administrator. In windows10 I used the search bar, typed cmd, and right clicked it and then left clicked run as administrator. Once that is open, type the next 4 commands and hit enter for each line separately. CD C:/nvflash nvflash --protectoff nvflash --save filename.rom nvflash -6 biosfilename.rom Now it should be re-flashing the VBIOS of your graphics card with the .rom file you downloaded. Press y twice (or continue to press it) until screen turns back on if screen turns black after this 4th command. PLSPLSPLS make sure you have the exact correct .rom bios file exactly matching your graphics card make and model before trying any of the above :)

u need a igpu then u can use your broken card as secondary and flash it

It saves to the same folder, so if you made an nvflash folder in C: like the video says, it'll save to C:/nvflash

same nvidia card, any bios of the same card can be flashed on

In Furmark stress test for example

If a bad vbios was flashed: connect a second gpu to flash the correct vbios on the first. If you don't have a second GPU you will need to RMA the product.

Hey :) Seems like never versions of NVIDIA drivers put it in different places, try searching your system32 folder for "nvidia-smi.exe" (include the .exe sometimes it won't show up if you exclude it.)

RIGHT CLICK extract the folders with 7zip

In my case, I would use the command "nvflash64 -6 bios.rom" after changing directories to the folder that holds my nvflash64.exe
