Trouble shooting Intermittent issues can always be tricky and time consuming at the same time. In this video, Brian demonstrates how to make the picoscope software work for you! The Mask and Alarm functions are explained in this video to allow the user to setup their tool to help capture a problem and alert the user when the problem occurs. We hope you enjoy this video!

Thanks for the demo Brian, great job! I have used the trigger on single capture in the past, especially with secondary ignition to capture a fault. I have noticed using a mask can help in the demo you had shown in the case where there may be an "added" event or an "over current" but how would you set something up to capture a "missing event" lets say in the instance of an open such as in this demo if there was a "no current" event? Any thoughts? -Eric O.

The frequency math channel could work for that. Matt explains that in another one of our videos. If the idles stable, the frequency of the events would remain somewhat steady until a dropout is present. The frequency math channel on top of circuit you are recorded would quickly identify a drop out. I would be making a deep record in this case, lots of time on the screen.

That is a great explanation of one of the modes PICO incorporates. Thanks for all you do on this channel, it helps.

Trained by Techs one thing I would love to see is voltage drops using scopes. I’m sure that sounds simplistic but I use them every time I pick up a meter so why not use them when I hook a scope up. I use scopes on occasion to do cam crank correlation and things of that sort but how can we use a scope in a day to day way to increase our diagnostic efficiency and accuracy.

Thanks Brian. I didn't realize that was even an option. Haven't spent enough time "exploring" the pico software.Great stuff. You guys are great.

Mike Burton Thanks! The power of pico beyond it's excellent hardware lies in it's software. There are countless gadgets that can make our lives easier as long as we take the time to learn them. Is there anything you'd like us to cover that you may be struggling with or may not fully understand?

Thanks for the reply Brian. To start off, I'm a DIY'er, not a pro like yourself and probably all of your subscribers. This is a hobby for me but the more technology that comes out, the more I get drawn into this field. Honestly I would love to be able to one day look at a car with a single cyl misfire, pull out my PICO and COP probe and diagnose why the misfire just from the COP probe waveform. That would save so much time and have an accurate direction to go on. And while the PICO is already out, throw up another channel on the injector coil, or ignition primary if needed but I would just love to be able to understand the secondary ignition waveform variables better. Thanks for asking Brian. You guys here have great content.

Thank you for the demonstration, I did not realize our picoscope had that ability. I will use this feature moving forward. Thank you for all the videos you provide us.

Ronald Griego There are HUNDREDS of cool gadgets in the software that I'm sure I don't even Know exists. The more we share the more we all learn and maybe even ask pico to develop for us if it's not available? Any ideas?

Trained by Techs have you got a chance to use the new 6. 13 software update for the Picoscope. I noticed it came out of beta earlier last month. What about a video to demonstrate what's new in this update to the scope software?

That is really cool. Thanks for sharing this. I'm wondering if this could be a good way to catch an intermittent no fuel event in a coil firing capture.

Never knew of this feature!!! On pico, I would drive customers car for a week with modis scope on record until glitch showed up. Only bad thing about these feature is that I will loose my company car privilege.
