I just bought a new 5150 iii stealth 50 watt. Going to the band room now and going to try this with my Helix Floor. See how it goes. Thank you for making this video
thanks for the video. couple of questions evh 5150 stealth 50 watt Line 6 hx effects 4CM is how I have it hooked up What about the effects loop on the stealth? is that also switchable? how do you have the effects loop always engaged? If I want a lead channel to be on red on the amp, use effects in front of the amp, and use delay and mods in the effect loop, how does that work? do I need to leave my evh footswitch plugged in so I can engage the effects loop?
Can you layer effect over the snapshot? So one button push can be a solo snapshot with delay and reverb? Then another snap shot would be Clean with phaser or etc? Thanks!!
Pretty much yes to all! You would just have to make sure to turn off specified effects on each other snapshot like in the vid. They have to use the effects within the "preset." You only have like 8 blocks which equals 8 effects.
I need help dude. I don't understand which lightning bolt corresponds to witch switch. I followed your vid exactly and except I made snapshot 3 my clean channel. I want snapshot 1 to be my dirty channel and snapshot 2 to be my lead. But I don't know how to program the other switches because I don't know which lightning bolts they are..
You have to kinda remember which one is which. So I would start from scratch then select which switch you want to start with, press it like in video, and then go to settings and make sure the first lighting bolt is lit up and then select your program number. Just follow the video with that in mind. Just work your way across the lightning bolts and up the program numbers and your good. Just make sure your program numbers dont over lap onto another lightning bolt. Hope that helps...
@FPSTech got it. So each snapshot has to have its own lightning bolt and program number, correct? But what about the base midi channel, if I want that particular switch to go to channel 2 on my amp. Would I switch it to "2' in the hx effects as well? This is my first time dealing with midi 🙄
Man... I programmed a different switch with a different lightning bolt and a different program number. It works, but my amp is no longer responding to the first snapshot I setup.. snapshot 3 was programmed as my clean and it worked. But then I wanted to program snapshot 1 as my "blue rythm" evh channel. That worked, but now it won't switch back to green when I hit snapshot 3. This is retarded..
@FPSTech I uploaded a video on my channel showing everything I'm doing. I'd appreciate it of you could take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong 🙏 I'm about to send this unit back.
Hi. Great video, when I get my hx effects I'll be coming back here! Just wondering, when you're turning off the numbers on previous lightning bolts so not to confuse the amp, so that presets snapshots are set up.. When you then want to set up the next presets snapshots, can you then use any number again or stay clear of any previous numbers on other snapshots? Thanks
Hi! I’m new to the HX effects. Could you explain me what I need to do before this video? I’m just getting familiarized with the snapshots and couldn’t get the HX to switch my channels in my EVH 5150. I don’t know what am I doing wrong. My HX doesn’t have the lighting bolts with the symbols you had in your video 😱
Hi Josh, are you getting any popping noises when switching channels? I just upgraded the HX to version 3.01. I don't think I was getting the popping noise while channel switching prior to upgrading.
Josh did you upgrade to 2.9? If so did it screw up your settings? It might be nice to assign the four snapshots and still have two buttons left for other stuff but I really don't want to completely redo everything!
I dont know about 2.9? I upgraded to 1.81 on my HX and everything was fine. Also you can make backups of these patches through HX edit. Then you can use them anytime. Put them on a mini usb and you got your patches on the go!
Thank you for this; I used it today to set up channel switching snapshots. I know there’s a way to have the different channel switching foot switches display in stomp box mode, but I can’t seem to crack that code. Are you familiar with that?
No unfortunately I dont know about the channel switching in stomp box. Assuming if you go to control panel and go to foot switch actions you might beable to assign those action to a switch or two for what ever channels. Good luck!!
