Termites ate through and destroyed part of a fence between my neighbor’s home and mine. The fence was sprayed, but with it only about 150 feet from my home, I decided to be proactive and install termite stakes. The stakes I chose were “Spectracide Terminate Termite Detection & Killer Stakes” that have a twelve-month effectiveness rating by the manufacturer. The killer stakes have an orange-capped shaft that pops up a few inches to inform you if termites are actively feeding on the poisoned bait. The stakes are designed to eradicate ground or subterranean termites, which are the most common type. The kit I bought cost me forty-five dollars and came with 15 Stakes and Detection Shields, a digging augur, and a well-written instruction booklet. In this video, I will show the contents of the kit and my approach to installation, while offering some basic tips and caveats.
