In fact, to transmit the prerecorded CW messages, you have to go to APP, select MODEM, set the modem to CW, go back to "MSG" and select the message you want to send. That's it.

They call it "cw trainer" on this radio. I had it setup to TX properly. Just tested it both ways, no joy

Does it have the option to "record" the outgoing CW message? The KX2, for example, "records" the operator keying the message and then sends it out with a key press.

@@temporarilyoffline Another thing that struck me...does the radio need to have a CW key plugged in? Some radios use a "dit" from the key to stop the automated message (for example, if transmitting full break-in and you hear a station replying before the recorded message is finished).

On PSK or RTTY software you had to use tx and rx and outher commands maybe it needs that to. Maybe.

Try it in SSB maybe there thinking they will just send CW audio to it. Boy I hope not but if the software dude doesn't know better ??

@KM9G, I found the same issues! 13WPM on X6100 is more like 19WPM in the real world. MSG does not work on mine either. In addition, try listening to CW with the NR engaged, sounds terrible. Finally the keyer is not forgiving. If you try to use true iambic keyeing, you will drop dits/dahs. As it is, the rig is not usable for true CW work. I hope the next firmware upgrade fixes these issues. DE KQ9L

For those new to this rig, I believe the bugs listed here have been addressed.. at least some of them, but the CW Rate adjustment at the bottom of the CW decoder app is for the sending speed. I found that out when I went to transmit, and it was at 32 instead of 18 lol

put modem on rtty and it will transmit. try it and verify.

@@temporarilyoffline i was wrong. I followed you steps in the video. it turns out there is a sequence of button pushing to get it working. It will transmit rtty, but i dont know what its doing.

@@clesheanj There is a learning curve for sure - you have to be in RTTY mode (U-DIG in this case), then you have to be on a RTTY frequency (you'll have to google that) and then you'll be able to send and receive RTTY. There is a lot of fun and history tied up in RTTY. Its a great mode.

They seem to have the right idea, but what they bring to market falls short virtually everytime. I don't see where keying to cw needs to be that complex. We can key to communicate in other ways, then why the mental block in ham radio. I have researched the topic and there are no clearcut solutions. My hands are limited but I can do simple keying. Yes, I can hear cw but that is not the point of ham radio is it?
