Antipsychotics are a class of drugs used to control certain behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) including delusions, hallucinations, aggression, and agitation when there is potential for harm to the patient or others. This video provides an overview of how to use an evidence-based deprescribing algorithm to help you decide when and how to safely reduce or stop certain antipsychotics - especially if at risk numerous side effects, the most severe of which are increased overall risk of death and increased risk of cerebrovascular adverse events.
