Using the CSS Manager + Adding the slots - Smash Ultimate Modding Guide 

Quick bit of advice for anyone who gets a crash at the VS screen: The latest version of the reslotter tool has the option to create the config file for the character. Just set the character id at the bottom and click change slots, and it generates a config which will work out of the box. This, for me, fixed the VS crash. Just set up the ui folder stuff, and your good to go.

just what i nbeeded ive been trying somethjing like this for waluigi and got everything until I got to the part where you add the 8 extras costumes but it always froze. This should help me finally get past t hat step. Thank you.

where do i find the css mod manger?

Mate I have literally sat here for ages, I have fully followed this step step by step, pausing after every single step, I even used the same mod and it just won't work for me. Can you tell me what the problem might be please?

note to others watching: if u have other characters with custom character slot, this wont work for u. some reason this character css manager thing doesnt work with multiple css, there probably is another way but they are gatekeeping it from us.

Both the vanilla and the duplicate slots are the same as the duplicate. How do you get to where the duplicate slot has it's own files? For example: I duplicated Dr. Mario's slot to add in Crash Bandicoot, and I wanna keep the original Dr. Mario slot vanilla while the duplicate has it's own voice, sfx, animations, models, effects, victory music etc.

Awesome video! This helped so much. The only issue I can't figure out is sound. My echo slot doesn't seem to recognize the mod audio. Is there a correct way to format it? This also happens with announcers on CSS.

I followed all the steps of this but then I ran into some problems. At around 10:56 you mentioned clicking on "Load Directory", I did so but I'm always receiving an error. It reads "Failed to get files in dir! View console for more information." I'm not sure what else to do cuz otherwise, trying to load the individual slots will crash the game.

I got a problem, when i finished my css manager, everything saved except for ui_chara, and its probably why i cant see the slot when i open the game, i need help

Honestly paying for this isn’t a problem imo, it’s literally just like paying for dlc but with even more dlc

I got it to work, but I’ve noticed that trying this with certain mods will crash the game. And I had to make sure I saw the progress bar move when saving in the css manager to know that my changes actually saved, which took a few clicks. Only thing I haven’t tried is sound

Is there issues with certain characters ? Tried with Ganon and Marth and followed the steps. Either didn't add the slot at all/ just glitched out my game

how would i go about setting this up for mods that come with a pulgin.nro file? i want to add brawl meta knight alongside ultimate, but to my understanding the plugin is based on the original 8 slots?

Is there a reason CSS Manager might not be saving the prc files? I compared the saved ones to the originals I got from data.arc and the files appear to be the exact same. My prc doesn't have that 121 file when looking at the prc editor, It always seems to stop at 120 no matter how many times I repeat these steps.

Can I edit the css location of addtl fighters that do not come with a ui_chara_db? I believe their position information is included in the plugin.

Everything was going so well until I realized that I wasn't using the version that I can duplicate in the css :( well I guess I'll have to wait for it to be public Pd: thanks for the guide anyway

idk why but i cannot get the ui to show up at all, my echoes slot is there, he's choosable, and playable. but he has no voice, and he has no css ui. Skill issue on my part ig idk.

I made all the steps but the new character doesnt show up in the roast, I made another try and this time the character was invisible, idk what it going on

Does the echo slot only work with the prc file generated by the CSS or is there a way to patch it in with an xml?

I was able to get it working, the only issue is that there is no icon there now but I can still choose the mod I put in, I just can’t see none of the ui like colors or stock icon

I have a question. I've been using some of the moveset mods for Waluigi, Sandbag, Alucard, and a few others, and those mods all add extra slots on the CSS for those characters. I assumed the creators of those mods used this method to do that, but when I tried to add a new slot for Cattail's Nahobino mod using this method, the game crashes when booting up. I tested with the mod and the css plugin and then the plugin by itself and confirmed that the plugin is the issue. I looked in the ui folders for Waluigi and the other moveset mods I have, and none of them have the ui_chara_db or ui_layout_db files. Some don't even use the param/database folders used here, and the ones that do have a param folder go param/standard and they have a standard_route_'charactername'.prc. So my question is, what the hell? Maybe I'd get a better answer from the creators of those mods, but this really threw a wrench in my plan because it seems like this method is just incompatible with the other mods I have.

hey its been around a year and i have a project im working on, im 16 and im wanting to add in echo fighters, and i have all i want so far everything is done, but i only need your program just so i can change the starting color for a bowser echo mod ive made. its only because my normal char menu has 32 slots on bowser and i have slots 33-40 all layed out for my echo fighter and i have the chara ui all set too and its selectable on the menu but because i cant change the starting char color (ex; c033) its stuck on c08, and in my 32 bowser skins, that makes my playable characters all dry bowser instead of the echo fighter i already have set up and ready to go

I downloaded everything and extracted the files needed from data.arc but when i try to open the css-manager, it is just stuck on parsing data, and i have given it about an hour and it will never move pass parsing data. What would i do to fix this? Thank you very much.

i'm having issues in which when starting up the game and entering the css, my game freezes on loading? i've added a few more slots and i'm guessing that maybe there is a cap on how many separate character slots can be added
