I retired my iPhone 7+ 32GB last month, I'm now using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro (128GB/6GB) I've personally wanted to go back to android for a while and decided that now is the time. I think this phone may be the best £200 phone at the moment.
It only feels like yesterday since this thing came out and everyone was talking about the Headphone Jack being gone and how it had Water Resistance. Great Video, Josh.
Agreed. The iPhone 7 in Jet Black was my first phone ever. I was still in high school when this came out and I've been working for half a year after graduating from college now. Time passes by so quickly.
And it still performs better than most low entry phones out there, the problem is software support, it’s 4 years old and it won’t last long, but yeah it’s a very good option
If you have 200-250$ to spare you could upgrade to a refurbished oneplus7t on ebay or get the oneplus 6t for as low as 150$ on ebay which is a really good bang for your buck since it's a 2018 flagship and oneplus phones get updates for a long time. Also Old LG flagships like the V50,40,and 30 are around 150-250 on Ebay or Amazon and they still have really fast performance but not as much update support as oneplus which is why I reccomend the 7t the most
@SapphireChaotix It’s not on life support, the iPhone 6s on the other hand is. I bet the 7 has a year or two max out of it with updates, and iOS 12 is still getting security updates. Also the 8 if I’m correct is practically 2 times faster than the 7.
@@sdsd4108 Your comment is totally correct, but I specifically said iPhone I recommend, so not exactly the best idea to bring up androids in this thread because it’s unrelated to my original comment.
I remember that during Summer 2017 I was still using my old iPhone 5 with AWFUL battery life, so I worked as a lifeguard for 3 months and bought the 7 with my first salary. That phone was AMAZING on iOS 10. Then iOS 11 came and completely ruined it. On November 2017 I sold it and bought a Mi Mix 2 (the all screen Xiaomi and their Android was very iOS-like). Then sold it after just 3 months and got a 6S (yes I know, I literally downgraded my phone). Then I had my 6s until summer 2019 when I bought my current XR. Best phone ever :)
I'm 61 years old and bought my first iPhone today. It's a 7. I'm watching videos to learn how to use it! I'm happy to hear you still think it's a good phone.
After a few months is it still working well for you? I’m just curious because it’s a decently older iphone and especially for someone like me it would just be way too slow. Is it too slow for you or anything? If so there’s an iPhone called the iPhone SE 2 and it’s the exact same iphone but with a newer and faster processor, you can find one for 100-150. Of course it has a better camera and some other upgrades as well. But if you’re like my parents, the iPhone 7 is probably just fine for you.
@@deadboy3646 Yes, it's fine. The only thing is the battery maybe drains faster than it should...like I listened to the radio on it one morning next thing I know is it's at 28%. But it's fine...I rarely listen to the radio on it. Thanks for the suggestion about the SE2
@@msrhuby i have a 7, i’ve had mine for going on 4 years now and it’s just now started causing issues. it’s just struggling to charge for me, and the battery’s draining faster than it used to. it’s not too slow unless it’s about to shut off. i’m upgrading soon either way but my phones also been through more than yours so you probably won’t have any problems
@@em7719 I recently learned that the iPhone "learns" things with regard to charging its battery. It's best to let it drain almost completely before charging it again.
I'm using an iphone 7 32GB in 2021 and im pretty happy with it :D My battery health is 81% but im not a heavy user, it lasts me 2 days usually Bought it for 170 USD in october for my bday, i wanted something aluminum and 16:9 after my HTC 10 died, and it definetly delivers
I’m using a 7 plus 32gb that I bought like 3 months ago for $100 and I recently replaced my battery so I have 100% and it lasts me all day but I’m a heavy user and I love it
Gosh I remember it feels like yesterday watching TechRax and EverythingApplePro do durability tests on the 7. Definitely an unforgettable phone, well apart from the 3G.
I remember wanting a 7 so bad when it came out and my teacher got one and she knew how much I love tech and she let me mess around with it after class and look at all the accessories and stuff, that’s a good memory
I am still using my 7 and wasn't planning on upgrading, but the haptics on my home button unfortunately just stopped working after I went for a long run and it started pouring like a freaking waterfall. While using the accessibility mode is an okay workaround, I am gonna go out and get the 13 on Friday... Hoping that will last me another 5 years as well. This was a really solid phone!
Ive had an iPhone 7 that’s still with me today. Ironically, I first got it when I was in the 7th grade- now I’m in grade 10 I’m writing this comment from it. It’s a great simple phone without too many bells and whistles, and it’s pretty dirt cheap. Although my 7 has a cracked screen, a missing camera lens, and a battery life that doesn’t last for long (all due to my own irresponsibility) I still absolutely love this thing to death, and it’s lasted me for about 4 years. If you’re looking for a great first phone I’d definitely recommend the iPhone 7! :)
This was the first phone I ever fell completely in love with . Captured some great moments with it ; carried it through some awesome times as well as some sad, rainy days … Me and this phone have lived some life together .
had the 7 plus from 2017 up until now, finally replaced it with the 12 pro max! can say that the 7 plus is my favorite phone and I still miss it even now, especially with the Touch ID. the phone itself still works perfectly fine, I gave it to my dad after getting the battery replaced
Just found this video at the right time as I've just ordered a reconditioned 7 plus 128 GB in black, to replace my very slow 6s. It has a 12 month warranty so hopefully it will last me for a year or 3! lol At my age [68] I don't need anything too fancy and it cost £207 which is enough for me to pay out.
I just done EXACTLY the same thing. I killed my hard working 5SE and desperately needed a phone quick time. Pretty broke so went for a reconditioned 7 but I got mine for £139 and 256 GB the Red special edition one. I hope the battery is okay. I also never realised there was no phone jack so I guess I will have to go back for Bluetooth earbuds - so much for saving money!
I just got my iPhone 12 pro max free from elexhacks on instagram without no any issue or delay am so glad and happy just meet him on instagram he will help you
I had an iPhone 4 8GB from May 2013-Sep 2016. Then from Sep 2016-June 1st, 2021 I had an iPhone SE 64 gb ( 1st gen ). While I love my iPhone SE 1st gen, it started having major problems such as the logic board not and some sections of the screen was completely dead. On top of no matter how many apps and pictures I delete, the phone never frees up any space. Just a couple days ago I got myself an iPhone 7 32gb and let me tell you... it works perfectly. I got it for so cheap at $190. It's fully functional and honestly I love it. It does everything I want. For those that are on a budget or really don't want to spend an arm or a leg for an iPhone, I definitely recommend getting an iPhone 7.
Battery life is tuff on the small 7, that’s what I had before I got my 11. It feels so smooth but the 7 is still a great phone to utilize. Good job Josh 👍🏻
for anyone who hasn’t ever felt the haptic home button, the weirdest feeling ever is turning off your phone and while it’s shutting down, spamming that home button. eventually it hits a point where the haptic feedback shuts down so you very suddenly go from what you think is a physical click to nothing at all
The 8 is a stupid buy in 2021, you can get a new SE 2020 on eBay for $250-$300. The 8 is $225-$250 used, I would say the best phone in 2021 is the SE 2. Edit: actually the 8 was stupid from day 1, it was $799 instead of the $999, 10x better, IPhone X, when the 8 was basically an IPhone 7 with a slightly better chip and a glass back!
Nah the best one would probably be a Refurbished oneplus 7t on ebay they can be low as 220$ or the 6t which I have seen at 120$ used. Also old LG flagships can be cheap aswell like the V50,40,and 30 or G8 and 7
@Jay Cheap but used. Never really know what you're getting. Hell, even the 11 pro max is cheap (800$), I would buy it if it was 100% safe. Costs a bit more than the X but will last a few years longer too.
@@KingRiverVlogs I've seen the 8 for $199, I've also seen the 7 for $199, just buy the 8 at that point. If you can find the 7 for like $130-$160 then sure, it's a great buy.
@@marcelaespinace3489 I wouldn't say so... the iPhone 7 had some of the weakest batteries in the iPhone lineup. iPhone 11 is way better value for money... since you can keep it for 4-5 years
@@languist dang, sadly i dont have that much of money :( i bought the phone just an hour ago so ill see how it works in a few days ^^ thx for answering!
I just got my iPhone 12 pro max free from elexhacks on instagram without no any issue or delay am so glad and happy just meet him on instagram he will help you
Watching this video on a 7 plus and it’s working just fine. I signed up for the apple beta program and updated to 14.5 this morning. Great that apple are still supporting older phones.
The iPhone 7 plus is my favorite iPhone of all time. Felt like a huge upgrade from my iPhone 6s. Some reason I like the 7 plus more then my 11 pro max. Not saying I’d downgrade my 11 pro max to it but still! 😂😂
The 7 Plus was my very first smartphone I owned, and I loved it. I only had performance and storage capacity issues because I used it on heavy use. I still have the 7 Plus to this day, just that Ive kept it in its box
I'm not saying that the iPhone 7 is a BAD phone, it's just a little underwhelming if you're looking for an upgrade from the 6/6+. It'll do perfectly fine as an upgrade from the iPhone 5.
I’m still using the 7, and it’s just had the latest software update (15.0.2). As you mentioned, battery is ready for replacement (71% max), but I noticed my daughter’s 10/X also has the “Service” message and a battery at just under 80%. I’ve put off getting a new battery cos I’m really fancying an upgrade to the 11. We’ll see 👍
I’m currently using an iPhone 7, bought it a little more than a year ago, brand new, no intention at all to upgrade anytime soon ! It’s a great phone, does anything I ask of it. Only the dropping of software support would make me change at this point...
I’ve literally just replaced my iPhone 7 with the 12 Pro Max. The 7 really served me well and I would recommend it to anyone. Edit: I also upgraded its battery with ease and replaced its screen (when I needed) through the use of RU-vid guides woohoo
@@dubemshawn163 I’ll be completely honest. I was little underwhelmed because I expected major major differences but the iOS updates are very similar to the recent iOS. However, the camera is amazing and I love the size of the screen and the clarity when viewing high quality videos etc. End of the day, I’m very happy with it and I know that it will last me a long long time. If I were you, yes I would get it! Treat yourself! Just get a good case to keep it safe.
I am using iPhone 7 plus and I just bought it in December 2020. Still a good phone, it’s fast. The only problem for me is that I am constantly playing and the battery is not enough for me. But when you just use it for social media or just messaging the battery is okay.
The only real problem is the battery, on both the normal and the Plus. The normal 7 also has some performance issues, especially when the storage gets a bit full, most of the apps start lagging like crazy. Back on the battery: Even with a brand new, 100% battery, it drains like crazy when playing games or using certain apps. I think this is due to the fact that the CPU and GPU have to work a lot harder now, than it had to when it was new. I play a game called Shop Titans, which drains like 20-30% after 10-15 minutes of playing. Same goes for Coin Master. Other than that, they still work like a charm, snappy in general use, no lag in all the games I've tested and overall a great experience! Even the camera holds up great, it took Apple a long time to make real improvements on the camera, so in my opinion it's as good as up to date :)
I've got XS Max, but regret upgrading from my 7 Plus, there was nothing wrong with it, was still blazing fast! Not making the same mistake again, XS Max is well into year 3, and may well keep for a 4th year!
@@Zanzibar2Far sadly my iPhone 8’s cellular data just stop working all together and didn’t work no matter what I did. I upgraded to iPhone 12 Pro and even though I could’ve lasted longer with the 8 the iPhone 12 feels like it will last way longer into the future for me.
I bought one of these brand new that they had never opened. It does everything I need it to do and fits in my pocket. I can buy whatever I need to I guess, but for 140 bucks this works great and takes photos that are above average. I’m set till they stop updates.
I got my iPhone 7 for my birthday my sophomore year in 2018 I still don’t want to upgrade yet I’ve made so many memories on this phone I’ll probably upgrade when I’m in my 20’s to make new memories :)
This phone was a great stopgap upgrade between my old SE and 12 Mini. It also still came with a charge brick, usbA power cable and lighting-port earpods...all now being used with my 12 Mini!
No 🧢 the reason apple charges you soo much makes sense after some years when all Android users pay money to get upto the mark performance whereas iOS users just need a update to do that!!!!
You can't just get a random iOS update to get top of the line performance 😭😭 it's called bug fixing and optimization etc , which android manufacturers do too
@@Cal_lum I never said they don't get more updates n stuff you know. But this guys talking as if you get a whole generational upgrade from simple OS updates
I got one for $100 on backmarket. The only problems I have with it is the smaller 720p screen and sometimes when I’m charging it, it becomes very hot. Battery life isn’t that great as well. IOS still feels fine and the 7 does everything you would need to do on a modern phone.
My dad has a 7+ 256GB and its running flawless ever since my brother gifted him the phone, since my dad doesn’t need much for a phone than a good battery and facebook, I don’t see him upgrading anytime soon 😂
I’ve had my iPhone 7+ since February of 2017. It’s in perfect condition and still runs perfectly fine, but unfortunately I’ve decided that it’s time to upgrade. I’ll be getting the 12 Pro Max next week and I’m a bit sad because this iPhone has been around for so long and it’s still going strong! It will not be going to go to waste tho. My mom isn’t super tech savvy so I’m gonna hand this one down to her! Gonna miss this phone but its time to move on 😭
I upgraded last year to an iPhone 11, and this year to a 12. But, I'm still holding on to my jet black 7 Plus tho, and it's definitely more useable than my old Android phones fram that period :)
Iphone 7 is still a good buy tho,my friends still use it till this day and have fun gaming and taking pictures.Me personally uses iphone 6s plus and iphone 11 but still consider iphone 7 as one hell of a good phone.
my honest recommendation is the iphoneXr really has an amazing camera especially if you use it for instagram, when you change the effects it's really great, but the best thing for me is the screen! the phone is not even expensive i have it. just look at that information here amzn.to/39EKeo1
My iPhone 7 has taken some of my favourite videos on my RU-vid channel. I have the 4.7 inch 7 and the camera is brilliant and I can’t complain with the result. I do want to try and get a newer iPhone like the 10 or 11 but I also want to see what android has because iPhone and battery are 2 words that never go together. I can see this phone getting 1-3 years of updates because iOS 14 is great on this thing
I love getting new phones and usually change it up every six months or so. I bought a new iPhone 7 back in 2018 along with an Essential Phone. I didn't like Face ID on iPhone X that I had. I've been platooning the two ever since. New phones have come and gone and I bought a Sony Xperia 5 last year, but didn't hold onto it for long. The combo of iPhone 7 and Essential PH-1 has been that good. I'll move on soon enough now, but what a run.
We’re here at the end of 2021 & I’m still rocking the Iphone 7 Plus just a few weeks shy of having it exactly 5 years. Put a new battery in it yesterday & breathed new life into it. Still a damn good phone “Does all I need it to do” & expect it to do well continuing to serve me well into 2023 or longer. It still calls, texts, emails, decent pic, decent web browsing speed, etc. Nothing about it is really obsolete 👍. I could have easily bought the latest 13 but passed.
@@CT--og4iv The regular 8 also has 2 gigs of ram so I don’t think ram will play against the regular 7 and will likely be discontinued for other reasons.
Good phone but the iPhone 8 is only around $50 more, has a faster processor, has wireless charging, and will likely last a year longer. Also a better camera if you care
Still using my 7 plus it honestly works very well I’m just tired of the home button and want portrait mode on the front camera As soon as I can afford a better phone then I’ll upgrade
I bought an iphone 7 a few months ago. Black with 258 Gb storage. Bought it for 150 euro’s. This week I changed the battery (costs around 20 euro). Very happy with the phone.
A friend of mine recently gave me his 7 plus because he upgraded. This is my very 1st iPhone and it's awesome that I didn't have to pay for it. All I have to do is get the screen replaced. It upgraded to iOS 14.5 a few days ago, so I'm happy about that. Looking forward to using this phone!
@@decm8 I think people have underestimated apples build quality ever since bend gate and the glass on the iPhone 4 honestly telling you now the newer iPhones have amazing build quality and the glass is more durable than most androids sure they aren’t rly innovative now when it comes to design ever since the iPhone 11 they’re basically all the same phone but you are getting years of support with those phones unlike other android phones if you really want that headphone jack probably can only find it on like a midrange android now
I stopped using my 6s plus about a year ago after like 4 years of use, and I moved to an android. I just sold it and have been using the 6s plus again while I wait for my new iphone 12 pro max, but I’ve seriously been debating if the purchase was even worth it 😅 Camera wise and tech specs obviously 12 wins, but just for mundane use... um... I would have absolutely no problem continuing to use my 6s plus! Older models are definitely worth it for people on a budget
