These will go down as some of the best computer speaker systems ever made...I had one and sold it. Now Im buying one again, I still remember the deep bass...the type you feel in your ribs!!!
Am still using this till today. I bought it about 10 years ago, and when I heard it will be discontinued (meaning I had to buy unstable Z906 if I want to buy digital logitech speaker again), I bought another z5500 and it is still in mint, unboxed condition (I took the battery out though). I connected the Direct to computer for 5.1 and microphone port to that logitech bluetooth receiver, Optical to TV so I can get signal from the likes of PS4, PS3, Nintendo Switch. But yesterday I changed the setup. I kept z5500 and replaced HDMI splitters (I have three because I did not know about AVR) and also threw away that logitech bluetooth receiver. Connected it using direct to Denon AVR Pre-out. That denon replaces 6 devices in my systems, but I just can throw away that Z5500 as it serves me well for the past decade, so I reuse it with the denon setup.
Thanks much, I own it from about 13 yrs ,havent used it în last 5 yrs , using also a Bose , now seeing your video convinced me to put it back on track , awesome system, still love it !!!
I owned a z5500 for about 9 yrs, had to get rid of it because its was just too noisey for my current living situation. But i really enjoyed those 9 yrs i had with it, i also added a bluetooth adapter to the system. I miss the bass lol Currently i have a creative labs katana, it does the job
love them, i bought new in around 2008, the best computer speakers. they sound decent for movies. i should connect it through optical and get the most sound out of rear speakers, they always echoed or at least thats how i heard them like no full sourround, just occasional echo in movies.. But still great ones :) unbreakable :)
Tbh thats a dope company there products are awesome just bought charger wires n work beautiful didn't know they made this gotta get me one now I'm so late 🤣
I just got it from my grandpa we used to watch StarWars on this I installed it yesterday with a optic kabel to Xbox it works fine but I want to manage to play all speakers I can only use one option 2 in the back loud 1 front low sub low to mid bass the center is not on hmm I’ll buy this Bluetooth device I’m also wondering if I could use this systems to play my vinyls on ?
I have had my set for almost 12 years and used them for surround only. I bought a marantz reciever and used the speaker with it. Hacked the sub, so i could get rid of the control pod. Works perfect.
Same situation as mine, except mine is denon, and i cannot find that certain converter. Found it out of stock everywhere. I would have done the same were i to find that converter. I opted to buy denon with pre-out, leaving all speakers connected to z5500.
Same here 12 years and still working like the fisrt day, I have the PC, xbox etc connected to the TV via HDMI, since the TV has a toslink output it sends audio via optical cable to the Z5500. How difficult was bypass the controller from the sub? which model of receiver did you get if I may ask.
Hello good afternoon from Sierra Leone. I've bought one of these bluetooth audio receiver but I'm still not able to connect it to my Logitech Z 5500. Could you show me how to do it ?
I’m about to cop this system on offer up for $60 today and wanted to make sure the Bluetooth adapter worked with the system. I didn’t see a 3.5mm AUX port on the back of the subwoofer and I got worried. But since watching this video I discovered that the input port is on the remote. Nice. Definitely about to cop the system now. 1 question tho. What’s the diff from using RCA cables that come included and just using a straight AUx Cable with the pass through?
Great video, Thank you. Do these speakers work without a PC or Stereo reciever? Basically I just want to plug in my ipod. I've tried all the connections I can think of without any luck.
You need the control pod, if its not working then check cables, or the pod maybe broken, in which case youll need an ebay replacement or a custom cable to replace the pod
i have the same bt adapter, when i connect it the way he does, i only have 2 speakers working, its my first time using this system, the 3 other rca cables are not connected to any input, can someone tell me what im missing?
You can get a jack Control Pod Bypass Cable for Logitech Z5500 to keep it alive, just run it through a 3.5mm jack volume control knob, but that dock otherwise is unique to the z5500
Still got mine. I still think these are the best 5.1 computer speakers ever made. Methinks I'll be getting that Bluetooth receiver. Thanks for the upload! Oh, can you provide a link for the receiver? Thanks again.

At 2:37 you mention the option of putting an Aux cable straight into it but you don't want to. Is there any reason why you've chosen the RCA inputs over Aux?
Its a very durable capable system, mines around 15 years old and still going strong! Check the control pods fully functional and all speakers work and try knock them down as the z906 goes on good deals often
@@TheDJWaves yes, the control pods has a rather strange behaviour as the unit gets old. After unplugging it for rearranging, and re-plug it, sometimes the display is not readable, but after a few hours, it resets itself - turn itself off briefly and normalise the display. I would not recommend Z906 at all. My own experience is not too good with it. It hangs every day, and had to be reset - fortunately it was/is not mine
