Something I did and works pretty well use the duster and hold a hepa vac nozzle just near it as you blast the vac will suck up well over 90% of the dust instead of just blowing it around. I love RU-vid and these videos so many brains conversing and adding input through experience or just trying different things and being able to share all that wow we are living in such a golden age and so many don't even realize or just take things for granted.

I'm wondering if this would be good for gaming laptops too. Air exhaust vents on them are hard to clean. And I've also heard that excessive air pressure can cause damage to relatively delicate fans in them.
@TheSwayzeTrain
@TheSwayzeTrain 3 года назад
Assuming your laptop is out of warranty, you can pull the bottom cover off the laptop and use something like this. For the fans, youre correct in saying they can get damaged (if they spim too fast) so you have two options, most laptop fans are easily removed, it's just a couple of screws and a male/female connector for the wire. So you can actually remove them prior to dusting and wipe them down with a cloth. Alternatively if you didn't want to remove them, all you have to do is keep a finger on the fan to prevent it from spinning. Just be careful not to accidentally not blast a fan when you're not holding it.

For best results, use it outside. Or the dust will soon be back, and in greater numbers! I clean my PC just outside the door using an extension cable. I have the Compu cleaner, very similar to this from ocuk. Very handy little piece of kit, and worth buying.

since Ive build my somewhat similar build right along one of your guides when it came to assembling it and Im currently searching for a duster that can do the job this video was pretty helpful only thing ive gotta mention is that you probably should fixate the fans, so they dont start to spin, when you clean them like that.

You HAVE TO hold the fans, it's not just that you can damage their bearings, but they WILL generate a small current when forcefully spinning that, if they're connected to the mobo, could damage other components.

@TheOkie13

@@htr5372 Hay that's what I thought too and it could be that the fans I had were cheap but when cleaning my case with an air compressor, I have damaged fans. Some just would not spin others became more difficult to spin. Again I live in a very dusty area so it could be that I was blowing out my case more often than a typical pc user.
@davidfields5375
@davidfields5375 3 года назад
This is marketed for electronics but it makes no mention of static, the lack of at least a mention of this phenomenon on their amazon page is a huge red flag. There are a couple blowers on the market that are made for this and, well, you get what you pay for. Yes, you save $40 vs the more expensive static-free blowers, but you could easily fry a component with this thing.

Since you put up this video I'm fairly certain I've spent around 2X the cost of this on cans of air. And just the other day I dropped yet another $12.99 + taxes (CAD) on a single can from Staples. Enough is enough. Even though some (like myself) are very "late to the party", buying one of these instead of canned air is a no brainer.
