My favorite!! A MUST for powder coated bullets!! The Lyman 45/450 is fine for non PC but that extra thickness needs a lil More muscle The "tap tap tap", is just inconsistent. It relies upon a bullets diameter. Fat bullets say .003+ larger then size it might be just fine. But size smaller then that and there simply isnt always enough resistance to get the GC fully and properly seated. This tool has the muscle and finesse and is JUST THE TICKET!! Good video man!!♥️🙏♥️🙏
Yes, and you can adjust it for your particular needs in the moment as well. I realized after the video, for this bullet and press - I could have moved the die in farther. But I had it set to the last bullet and the other press already. Of course you can also get different punches for all your different profiles too. Very nice tool to have.
@@cw2a I had to call Al and ask him which one was correct for my 30XCB bullet - because I was not sure. He sold me the correct one, it had a specific number I don't recall. We had a short discussion about nose profiles and sizes. It was nice to talk to him in person. I talked to him one other time too.
@@johnshandloading7907 Al (the Swede) is a great guy yes have spoken with him a few times always informative! I have modified more then a few top punches! The 225450 I recently cast was just such a bullet! Its old and unpopular. Many punches have crossovers. Meaning they work for multiple bullets.
A reminder; you must run these projectiles through a Lee or NOE sizer in order to crimp the gas check to the bullet after they are seated as shown in your video. I just bought one and love it I made my own years back but this is better I like the idea of the floating stem. Why not treat yourself to a new piece of equipment.👍🏻
It works really well if you are a gas check user. I am very happy I got it. I should probably order a couple more nose punches for different profiles. Thanks for watching James.
@@jamespollard1670 I’m going the same route. The price of these things and extra procedures. Powder coating has been a game changer for casters. Thanks for comment. I’m setting up my casting equipment today as the weather has finally warmed up.
I saw that. They only had two in stock. Then one. I think they sell out as quick as they make them. Very nice to have. I bought the nose punch for the NOE bullet and it is an exact fit. Very nice.
you got to lube/size the bullets anyway, waste of money and time to seat checks, then lube !! Why not do all three step at once. Lyman seater does the job well.
I use gas checks on rifle bullets but I am pushing them at a high speed usually, 1800 FPS or higher usually. Many folks will not gas check powder coated bullets and I do not gas check my pistol bullets that are powder coated. I have had good results using the gas checks on rifle bullets so I keep doing it.
