The fact I've had this remote and couldn't use the volume function because it wasn't made clear that it was a 3way button. Thank you for pointing that function out. Great work much appreciated
I know most people didn't read manuals, so we know get little to no useful instructions, but a good one sheet on the remote would have been nice. Thanks for watching and taking the time to write.
Question. When I push down on the volume toggle for mute I instead get a message “receiver (optical). Is this because I’m using a Sonos soundbar? Can I make it work with Samsung?
@@hezbrookes Heather, the optical audio gain output is fixed, thus it has to be control at the soundbar. Do a search to see if your Sonos is compatible with the Samsung remote. This link might be useful www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00049279/
I agree while it takes a while to get used to, I find the slimmed down remote easier to use. I only wish it used replaceable batteries and not the solar panel gimmick.
Thanks so much for this video! I just got my first Samsung and I had no clue how to use this remote. It’s so vastly different from LG, which is what I just upgraded from.
This was a really good video! Being lazy, I just plugged in my Roku, since I already knew how to use it. March Madness required me to use RU-vid tv app on the tv, (it does’t play nice with Roku). The rewind / backup & fast forward was what I was looking for. You gave really good info! I’m going to watch your video again when I have more time. Thanks for sharing!👍👍👍
lzh, I use the Roku for the Tablo dvr. I do like the Roku can power on the Onkyo and Samsung. Thanks for watching and you're welcome to come back and watch as much as you want. You can even hit the subscribe button.
Wanted more info on recording a program, moving the closed caption text to bottom of screen instead of middle & creating a favorite channel list. Liked that he went over every button & told it’s function
Leona, unfortunately in the USA you can not record programs with this TV as you can in other countries. However you can use a DVR like the Tablo TV ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bJgAgu1-46o.html. Thank you for watching and writing in.
Thank you for the video - well explained and great examples. I recently got off of Comcast once and for all and went into the streaming world. We use FuboTV and with Comcast we lost a lot of functionality that we were used to. Showcasing the pause and rewind was exactly what I was looking for. Universal Remotes are either too expensive or not what I'm looking for. Decided to learn the remote that came with the TV and pray that it works. After watching this video, I feel confident going forward. Not to mention the video was not long winded, and over explaining a how-to video.
I like the solar battery charging on this remote, but its too small and difficult to operate in a darkened room. Can't tell you how many times I've used it upside down by accident.
Gary, glow in the dark lettering, back lit keys, and a shape that quickly lets you know which side is up would all have been nice. I would have also preferred a wider remote. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for watching.
I watch a lot of golf instruction on RU-vid and also have the occasional need to rewind a segment of a program or movie I might be watching. I see no way to do that. I only see a Play/Pause button. How do I rewind? Thanks for any help!
For RU-vid I believe pressing and holding the left side of ring will rewind. Sometimes you have to pause first and press up on the ring to engage a timeline before pressing left side of ring as with the Tablo app ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4jTXUQ0L17I.html.
Is there a way to change the preprogrammed buttons? I don’t have any of those streaming services. Is there a way to program them to the streaming services that I do subscribe to?
Streaming services pay lots of money to have such a visible button, so there is no way to change them. Same thing with the baked in apps that can not be uninstalled. Thanks for the question.
100% wish this was an option. I don't use them either and I'm constantly hitting them by accident since this remote is Rectangular I'm picking it up upsidedown all the time 😡 If can't remap them, I'm on to other channels to find out how to at least disable them
@@lordw9609 At least with the TV you can hide the default apps, but the remote ones would require a firm/software hack. Might be better off getting older remote.
Your receiver. I connected my older Sony receiver via the optical port, and it works fine but I don't see how the TV recognizes that receiver and controls it.
Unfortunately the optical protocol is for audio and not control of devices. You would need to use latest HDMI cable to support control between receiver and TV.
I would assume like Roku they too have an app that you can download, just go to APPS from the home screen. The DIRECTV app should allow for playback of your recorded programs.
To recharge the remote you either place it with the solar panel facing a light or you can plug a power cable to the charging port located at the bottom edge of the remote.
I find it frustrating its search component doesn’t understand voice very well my Fire Stick is so much better. And try to find what the 123 L top corner do?
I find in the time that I make and wait for a voice command response, I could have just hit the button. The 123 button gives you access to a combination of settings, number keypad and A, B, C, D. The last one is the same as the useless A, B, C, D buttons on the old remote.
It could be the remote is not paired with TV. Press and hold the Return and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously. A message will appear on your TV screen showing the progress of the pairing process. After a few seconds, an icon of a remote and battery will appear, this indicates the pairing process is complete and the Smart Remote is ready to use.
Bad remote... Wish this was an option to remap the dedicated app buttons I don't use. I'm constantly hitting them by accident since this remote is Rectangular I'm picking it up upsidedown all the time 😡 If can't remap them, I'm on to other channels to find out how to at least disable them
The newer remote is certainly very different from previous models. I wish they would have included both remotes, as I have little faith in the solar charger and would have preferred standard batteries. You can purchase the older version from Samsung or Amazon for about $10. Search for samsung replacement tv remote.
@@cfldriven The UK gets both remotes but it's still a hassle needing two remotes. Samsung should make a smart remote with more keys including number keys similar to the LG remote. The LG magic remote is great.
@@Revolver1981 How is it that you need both remotes? I don't have a need for voice command so the old remote would seem to do everything. Am I overlooking something?
