Using the sine function to find the missing length of the hypotenuse

👉 Learn how to find a missing side length of a right triangle. A right triangle is a triangle that has 90 degrees as one of its angles. The trigonometric identities of right triangles give us the relationship between the angles of a right triangle and the side lengths of the right triangle. These trigonometric identities, commonly called SOHCAHTOA, are: sin x = opposite / hypothenuse; cos x = adjacent / hypothenuse and tan x = opposite / adjacent. These identities enable us to find a missing side length of a right triangle given one of the side lengths and one of the other angles of the right triangle.

here is a small tip to make this easier and faster, so instead of doing all the algebra at 3:40 you can just cross multiply sin36=12/x so it becomes x=12/sin36 straight away that's how my teacher taught us and I kinda find it a bit easier than having to do all that algebra. thnx tho this vid was actually very helpful cause I needed to shake my memory before the test lol

This is such a good explanation, but the way I learned it wasn't to multiply by x then divide by sin63° but just to cross multiply: sin63 °= 12/x sin63°/1 = 12/x 12*1/sin63° 12/sin63°

A teacher who uses a method that is accurate and easy for students to understand. It is very useful to use such methods because in this video it is not easy to explain everything, sometimes we can not understand everything. But I admire this teacher for teaching. He was able to explain everything to us. I was given this topic today. But I couldn’t understand a bit, especially finding the sides. And now I understand everything 100 percent. Finally one sentence you said at the 3:57 mark got through to my brain - "Make sure our calculators are in degrees mode". Mine wasn't. Such an expensive calculator should know what mode I want to be in. So, I had to MANUALLY change over from Radians to Degrees. Your answer is correct. Thought you'd like to know.
