Fantastic idea for a series. Never played Dragon Quest Monsters myself but I can already tell that haha. One thing I would say is maybe commentate over the fights more to make the video more dynamic? Tell the story of the playthrough, ya know? And then I can see this series actually popping off to thousands of views! Good luck man!
I will try to explain more what I'm doing in important fights, but when I'm playing on 4x speed, each fight is only a few seconds long. And since I'm dubbing it afterwards, it's hard to predict where to slow down or pause without making the video too long. I used to do subtitles only, but people didn't like that. Anyway, thanks for your feedback. I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'll speed through the trivial fights and focus more on the important ones.
Great idea! Agree with one of the other commenters that pacing might need some improvement, but on the other hand, I appreciate that you're letting the Dragon Quest music speak for itself sometimes. As for your voice, as I saw another commenter mention - just do what you're comfortable and able to do. A robot voice is better than silence or even a lack of videos!
As I said in reply to the other commenter, I'm getting mixed messages about the length and pacing. Most people only skip to the important parts, but some people want longer, more detailed videos. I can only make the videos either succinct or detailed, not a halfway compromise. Does YT allow multiple audio tracks? If so, I can try dubbing a video myself on a weekend, to see if people can understand me at all (I don't know how to pronounce a lot of the words I write), and also put the software dub on a second track.
Do you think you could do a playthrough of DQMJ2 with only Swarmtroops? I've done it before but I wanted to see someone else do it. If not thats perfectly fine and I don't mind (Also, I am the same person that had TheWhittyCheeze account).
I've already done something quite similar. I used Swarmtroops as the main attacker in my F-Rank Nature-family run. It's made for Double-Up due to its 6-hit attack.
This is actually pretty cool, though i do have a suggestion. I think the pacing could use some improvements. Theres a few too many times where youre completely silent, and it can detract from the enjoyability since it would be difficult to pay attention to the video for some. It would be cool if you explained in more detail the route you took, how the battles went, little bits of stuff that happened en route to the gyms, etc. It would be more engaging and more entertaining. Otherwise this is actually pretty unique, I cant wait to see what else you put out!
I'm using a dubbing software because I can't really speak English, and I don't want to disturb my family at night. Sometimes the voice came out wrong or unclear (due to my typos or bad grammar), so I had to cut it out, hence the silence. About the length and pacing, I'm getting mixed messages. I try to keep the videos as short as possible because most people only skip to the important parts (I skip most optional battles as well, to save time), but some people want more detail or full playthroughs. I can only do one or the other, as compromising halfway will just displease both types of viewers. I prefer keeping things short and succinct, since that also means I spend less time on each video. But if more people want detailed videos, I will make fewer longer videos instead.
Coatol and Rainbow Peacock are actually pretty mediocre stats-wise, but the problem is Metal King (or any Metal Slime) won't work in Pokémon. There are no abilities that give similar effects to spell immunity in Pokémon, except Wonder Guard, but it will be too OP on a Steel type with more than 1 HP. I don't want to hack the actual game, so no metal monsters for now, until I figure out a compromise solution.
