Virtual Reality isn’t new. But in today's luxury real estate market it’s giving the super rich a chance to tour properties without having to see them in person. For Motherboard's Luxury Week, we went to Manhattan to see how the wealthy use VR to buy multimillion dollar properties.

Framerates seem to be less than 90fps and they're using stick (yaw) turning which is a huge no-no because it makes most people nauseous. Just because you're using VR for non-gaming purposes doesn't mean you get to flaunt all the standards being set by developers/companies like Oculus, Valve, Sony etc. VR shouldn't make you nauseous! If it does, it's the developer's fault, not the hardware!

It's funny how they make it sound like something rich and decadent. I design all my property projects in 3D and all you need is to output it to goggles and that's it. Nothing futuristic or exclusive about it.

it's not 'dumb' to get a conceptualized version of a multi-million dollar investment. And it's only exclusive now because it's new, soon it will be available to everyone.

I feel like the software would be one hundred times better, if the buyer could manipulate their surroundings. For example, they could change the tables, and move them around the design of the house. I feel like it would give the buyer a chance to personalize the place and try to get them hooked on it.

I'm a 15yr old high school student and I just made a program that is similar but you can change the colour of the walls, the materials of counters, you can move items in the building and you can explore outside the building. Idk y they didnt add more when they had money to work on it and I made mine by myself with no software education no money and in one day

Yeah I think we need some kind of "The Sim" building experience! Especially they want to change many items inside the house ! Some customer have different ideas on using the house ! For example they want to open coffee shop instead of living in !

Guess it's his "get 10% more success by always smiling" mindset. Even if it's like faked all the time, especially if everything else on the face says something different as in 3:46, but well.. you have to check out your average success ratio. If you sell 10% more of those ultra margin luxury houses.. wouldn't you do the same if you haven't developed a sense of prosperity, where you understand that it's more important to have a nice life instead of greeding for money?

What currency are you talking? Because the Oculus Rift is $599. With a $1000 computer, that would be about $1600. Not $10 000.

5 years down the line which are the good and little easy softwares to create these VR. Assuming person knows Photoshop and Premiere Pro and FCP. Any advice is welcome Thanks.

Wow.... I don't know who they hired to do the rendering but it's giving VR and Oculus Rift a bad name. Very poorly lit, and I don't even want to talk about the texture, what a wasted money on the Oculus Rift. No wonder the lady felt nauseated, it was because the render was done on an older computer with old GPU and CPU, looks like he didn't even edit texture, so flat looking. Maybe they hired a 15yrs old for this. This is definitely not a good example of the future of VR.
