For the ones like me that were facing a problem with the installation (MS don't let you install without internet connection), in the screen that you were supposed to connect, you press Shift-F10 and get the command prompt, type oobe\bypassnro . Then hit enter. It will reboot your computer, and the next time through setup it will give you the option to continue without Internet.
For the best VM hygiene you must install another browser so that you can change the infinite selections of default program for file extensions away from edge.
YES!!! THANKS!!! Been banging my head attempting to get win10 installed via KVM, running into hurdles and brick walls. Tried win11, same thing... until... UNTIL I found this video!!! I have all working now! BTW, installed KVM to get a windows instance to update the firmware of a USB hardware device. The hardware manufacturer only has a windows base firmware upgrading process. Liked and subscribed as well!
its still super choppy, i am running wayland maybe thats why but it shouldnt have anything to do with it. ive installed the drivers and rebooted. if i enable 3d aceleration gpu fails to start
I currently have 2 problems coming from a vm i created using the elp of Virtio drivers. The first is that I have no way the machine can remember the resolution I previously set, the second is that I have no audio whatsoever.
@@Trafotin Yeah, figured as much. I've reinstalled Win11 from scratch. Only thing that botters me is that it doesn't like VirtIO for graphics, at least for me, until drivers aren't installed or either doesn't want to start at all. I eventually kept reinstalling trying different combinations until everything was finally working as it "should". Is there an alternative for VGA passthrough?
If you don't get the option "I don't have internet", then press "Shift+F10" and in the command line type "OOBE\BYPASSNRO" and enter. This will reboot the machine and start the process again and you will get the option.
Hi great video. But i have a problem initiating a virt-manager guest OS install on my Arch Linux based system. Can you help? I keep getting a "Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/virtqemud-sock': No such file or directory" error after selecting the Windows install ISO. A pointer would be appreciated. Thanks

how would i do this without virt-manager? my VM server is cli only and i don't want virt manager as i don't want more than one pc running to operate a VM + it eliminates complexity as i understand what my own scripts do

Check to see if you set up groups correctly from the Fedora article, it's the same commands for Arch. Garuda also might give you a modified package because they have some weird AUR fork.

You shouldn't do flashing through a virtual machine. There's a whole host of things that can go wrong and it's better to just dual boot on a separate drive or have a spare computer. And if you want to connect USB devices (I've tested webcams and microphones), you can redirect a USB in the "Virtual Machine" menu.

Windows is not activated, but it's a generic KMS code to bypass activation. You'll eventually get the watermark, but Windows is still usable. If anything, it's a badge of honor that you didn't finance Panos's kids' college tuition.

Wouldn't it be a easier option to use Rufus to remove TPM, secure boot, enable local account, remove 4gb minimum from the ISO then run the windows install? Could work I just haven't had the time to try it out, some day maybe.
