Difference #1: A tracking account for A/R can give you a running balance of money owed to you. Difference #2: You can use the invoiced date which is when the work was completed and not have it affect your budget. Then, at a later date, you can create a transfer from the tracking account to your bank account once the payment has been received. (Big) Difference #3: Because you keep track of the original invoice dates, you can check the age of those receivables. Measure the amount of time when unpaid invoices were issued and the current date. Which invoices are over 7 days old? 30 days? Etc. Think the opposite of aging your money.

My opinion is that mint tracks your behavior and advertises to you which seems a little counter productive when you are trying to manage your finances. I don't use TrueBill and I don't like their lack of transparency before you sign up. I'm guessing the insights and budgeting are more akin to my bank's which is less robust but faster and easier. You can also bucket subscriptions in YNAB like I do and see how much you spent for x amount of time but you would not have a service cancelling them or negotiating for you. OTOH YNAB is very hands on and I have a love hate relationship with it. Now I am used to it so I guess it is more love than hate.

I use Payees to split income into categories, and this will reflect in the Income V Expense report. So instead of the Payee being the name of a client, it can be the name of a service/product or whatever income category you're interested in tracking.
