Agreed, I also think many of the openings from that era were very adaptable to a wide spectrum of musical genres. There is a small medley of Galaxy express 999 and Space battleship Yamato performed by the JGSDF band, another good example of how versatile openings from that era were. It was in the recommended section of this video, at least for me.
Farewell, Earth, the ship that is departing is The Space Battleship Yamato It departs now to Iskandar, at the end of the cosmos, bearing its fate. "We will come back, no matter what it takes" Answer with a smile to the waving people Going far from the Galaxy towards Iskandar A faint gleam of hope The Space Battleship Yamato
I eagerly watched this.......as millions did! Nice rendition! Fire the wave motion gun! A gun so cool...you had to wear sunglasses! A great theme song!
I'm pretty sure the guns muzzle flash was so bright they had to wear the glasses in order to not be permanently blind, the wave motion gun was able to destroy a continent sized object in one blast remember?
Coolness! Got abit hyped when they kicked it off... quite entertaining as most of the citizens were clapping along with them... so good I thought Cosmo Pulsar jet fighters were gonna do a fly by above them... ;)
I recently watched the english Dubbed version of Space Battleship Yamato at first I thought it was going to be complete trash but as I watch the movie it turned to out to be really great this was the live action movie. I really loved the theme song it is really strong and filled with hope and honor given the name sake of the ship and is the second ship to carry the name the Yamato given the real Battleship Yamato was sunk at the end of ww2 I truly wished that she was not on the bottom of the sea but rised and be recondition some how and be come a museum ship like the Missouri and the Iowa Battleship but I guess we can only watch it on movies and this one also.
Tim Dehoogh The Japanese government has talked about resurfacing the IJN Yamato but the plan was abandoned after it was concluded that they can’t as it would disrespect the final resting place of her crew (which was basically a burial at sea) plus the ship was torn in half. I’d love the ship to be resurfaced (easily more than most who say the same) but I’d rather respect the dead sailors as it is their final resting place as sailors.
