My husband passed USMLE step 1 n got 245 marks!😍 he is now trying for step 2 ... may allah bless him n also to me...bcz i'll try this in sha allah 😊 from bangladesh
@@peterwinchester7929 wow so now you are telling people how to write their own comments? Also I like the “I respect your faith but it is f***ing freaky” what a respectful person
was your food already prepped? or did also cook the foods in the time allocated for eating? and what did you do in your hourly study breaks ? would be awesome to see a day in the life! Thanks for the video, im deffo going to try and implement this.
Use student loan money to hire private chef during dedicated. Pay off loans later with that 250+ step specialty salary. Alternatively, live off of microwave meals and simple stuff like cereal, yogurt, protein shakes, noodles, PB&J, etc. It's only for 6 weeks or so after all!
Oh god. I’m scared as hell and I’m not even in med school yet. I loved this video tho. Helpful for any exam. Gonna use the same strategy for gre in two months.
I’m in Med School....Be scared....be very scared! Lol, nah just kidding. It’s hard but also doable. Be ready to work, adapt, and remain positive in the face of adversity. And you will face those moments of adversity...but don’t WAIVER. You will be fine.

Just say "I haven't passed yet." Don't take it as a failure but see it as a learning opportunity. There is a lot of power in "Yet", you are telling yourself that you will get there and that your eyes and heart are still fixed on your goal.
I took the step 1 last month. I'm very disappointed, the exam is not even close to the practice material that the prep book sells online. The level of difficulty is like 5x or 6x.
A higher score of USMLE is very admirable. It is one of our dreams to achieve with difficulty actually. A requirement of high score is to understand diseases in details with physiological logics in my opinion. I am not good at clinical questions of USMLE because of lack of experiences in real clinical situations.
I really like lecturio's study schedule. They sent it to me on email after I got my one year subscription. It's very organize and time efficient. I'm just not able to sit down and do schedules by myself so it was very nice to receive something like that, prepared for me
I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than her studies after writing the STEP 1 last month she passed and i failed😢, i asked her how she did it, just found out she got help from Mr Richard
I would love to have that excel sheet... maybe for the 1st time in my life I will get organized, cuz I'm the definition of a mess, when it comes to organizing :D. Great video
Your videos have been really helpful !!! 👍 There are some changes in exam pattern from 4th May, 2020. Apart from increasing questions to test communication skills, they have removed patient care part from 'competency' section. It is really confusing. It will be really helpful if you make a video regarding changes and advantages/disadvantages due to changes. Thanking you in anticipation! 🙏
One of my lab partners had the highest score in the U.S. Our class was the highest scoring in step one and the second highest on step 2. The class before ours were top scorers in both. We didn't do anything in particular to "prepare". Our whole med. school experience was our preparation. But we were tested every single week to be sure that we were absorbing what we needed to know. The faculty were very obsessive.
How did you avoid burning out with such an intense schedule? I'm trying to use a similar (though I have a full day of a break on Sundays) schedule, and I still find myself getting a bit tired after about 3 weeks.
*This video is on time for me!* I am an international 4th year medical student at Egypt, only 2 days later I was discussing which road I will hit the PLAP one or the USMLE, and I am keeping thinking day and night for what to do 🤔 *So what is your advice?* ...but here in Egypt those who took the exam before are saying it needed them 6-9 months to prepare for the exam !!! And YOU said it's only 2... So who shall I believe?! Thanks for the awesome video and channel 👍👍Big fan of you ..
I think that the 2 months is probably for US medical students, and the trend is that international students would need more time to prepare apparently? I guess if you study diligently throughout your main coursework then it would take the stress off of prepping for the USMLE later depending on the individual.
Same here in algeria...but he said that he went twice on pathoma and FA before those 2 months of preparation, so if you consider that he utilised them during studying his lectures ,then rereading them twice again after the exam prep, he won't need much time passing throw them in that period of prep... in result he won't need more than 4 weeks
TinaOnEarth Yeah, you may be right regarding American and international students, but I can tell you that if I studied my essential courses here in Egypt has nothing to do with USMLE, even if I was no1 on my batch, still the difference is respectable
I would use AnKing instead of FA. Basically FA in flashcard form, so you are actively learning not passively reading. Golden combo is UWorld + AnKing + Pathoma + BnB (for M1 stuff) + Sketchy Micro/Pharm
Super Talk that was! Reallly! i got through my step 1 with 247(i feel little low when dreaming top Universities) I'm an IMG as well! How to top in step 2 Ck! i mean a score of 270! Could you make a vlog or any idea?! Highly recommended nd appreciated!
Jerry Lorren hey man, congrats on a beautiful score ! Can I ask What year of med school did you give step 1 and what country are you studying in? And when did you start gradually studying for it?
My life got to point of mess . Now I want to get my life back . I want to take 1 step around December 2021 . In case I will do that good I will take next 2 CK and CS steps and apply for MATCH. But I’m worried cause I already have 9 years gap and last 6 years I wasn’t in medical area. Wish me luck and hope ❤️
Great video! I'm a MS1 freaking out about next year. I just had a question about how you integrated pathoma into your 2nd year studying. You said you went over it twice before starting dedicated, that seems like a lot of extra time needed on top of the fast pace of 2nd year. What was your system?
It is important for IMGs (international medical graduates) to know that an 8 weeks study plan is most likely not enough for an IMG... I think Kevin is targeting American med students whose (as far as I know) study programs are based on the USMLE exams, so 8 weeks are enough. An IMG mostly need much more time to prepare, 6 months to a year from what I’ve heard
depends on what year in med school you plan to take the USMLE. A lot of IMGs, including myself are on 6 year med school programs, so they take it at the end of their 4th year usually. And there are lots of holidays, like summer holidays you can use as an IMG to study for the USMLE a few years in advance and take like 10+ weeks of extreme dedicated time before you actually take the exam. And then 1-2 years later you take STEP2 CK. I have yet to take either exams, but it's very doable for IMGs. Especially because there are even Americans complaining saying that we have more of an advantage because we have more time to study and get higher scores. That's why the average IMG resident actually has higher scores than the average US MD resident.
Great video! Can you talk a little more about your rationale for reviewing FA during dedicated instead of using anki? Most of the questions I miss are because I don't know small details, and I feel like when I plainly read FA I end up just remembering what I already know instead of focusing on the details.
Several questions future doctors about dedicated studying period time: When people say here "dedicated studying period" what do you mean by "dedicated" a) How long usually are these periods? b) How many hours a day to study in that period? c) How many NBME's do you do in that period? d) Do NBMEs start being taken in that period, or prior to? e) At what state are you in your studies once that period started? (e.g., how many times did you cover FA and Uworld?) Sorry, I'm really curious and you guys don't have to answer all of these questions.
I checked the study schedule and did you study during the cruise? and did you do Uworld question already before your dedicated study time? Or why you started with Uworld Question 976?
What's your opinion about the Kaplan books and videos? Would you recommend using First Aid instead or it doesn't really matter as long as you keep practicing on UWORLD?
Hey friend! 4th year med student here in the process of matching. The big things to use to prep for step 1 is First aid and uworld. If you have a strong foundation from those two your knowledge base should be fine! Also it’s important to take plenty of NBME practice tests and the two Uworld practice tests under test day conditions so you can build some stamina for test day. Best of luck and I’m sure you’ll rock this exam!
Could you make a video on preparation for step 1 leading up to dedicated period besides doing well in class, so you can kick ass during dedicated period and maximize your potential?
Can u pls tell me what u do during ur 10 min breaks that makes u so refreshed and entertained..bcoz when i take a break it goes on forever...but tbh only then do i feel truly refreshed to sit again!!
I appreciate the overview of your schedule during dedicated period. When did you, however, start reviewing your material w/ your concurrent classes in medical school (i.e. before dedicated)?
Hey! I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. Im starting medschool in July. Do you think the medschool education has a big effect on your step scores? Not everything you learn in medschool is going to be on the step. For example: if your school has systems based vs traditional lectures does it affect in anyway your preparation for the exam? Keep the awsome videos!!
Awesome Video! Can you make a video on pre-dedicated advice? I am an MS1 who has been doing Bros/Zanki. What advice do you have for those of us who wanted to put in some work earlier than dedicated?
Hello,i'm on the first year...I'm a medical student from Brazil, and i wanna do my residency in the US...I'm having the basic subjects now...And here medical school is 6 years...Do you recommend to start to study to the exam itself on the last years?Or so i start now?
Hey friend! I’m a 4th year med student also. Already took step at the end of 2nd year. What I did was do as many Uworld Questions as possible and make sure I understood and knew the explanations from them. Try to take away the general concept from each question. The other thing is to take multiple practice tests simulating test day conditions so you can build some stamina and be ready. Best o luck and reach out if you have any more questions! I’m sure you’ll rock it!
@@thinkmedschool785 i’m a 3rd year medical student and wanted to know more about USMLE step 1 in case i passed, Will the USMLE test expire ? And what is the right time to apply for step 2 ?
The uworld notes, did you make Anki cards of it? I already hv a first aid deck I use but would you recommend making a deck for uworld or it would be flashcard overload?
How do you take notes on uworld? Just the learning objectives or things you didn't know or weren't found in fa? What's your opinion on annotating uworld info onto first aid vs taking uworld notes in a separate notebook?
Mrs Catherina is obviously the best, i studied her questions and answers just in 5 days and I passed, the materials she provided was exactly the questions I saw on my test day
Hi, your video is awesome and thanks for it, I have a question, in which part of the schedule are you watching the video lectures of Pathoma? I'm really confused about it, appreciate if you can answer me. Greetings!
Yesenia Medina dude! You need something you can write on.. you need something you can highlight and recreate in your own way and only a real book can let you have that experience! Something solid you can purely adore! I literally have feelings for my FA! So get a book now!!!!
Hi, I am a urologist from bangladesh. I have graduated at 2002. Finished my MRCS at 2007, fellowship in urology from my country at 2011. I have a continuous urology career for the last 16 yrs. I am currently in UK for FRCS Urology. What's the possiblity of getting urology residency after this long gap after graduation?
@@realblackbetty2204 got it! I just added the audios to my study playlist! Thanks for responding 🙌🏽 Did UWORLD really help? Were the questions similar to those on the actual test? Or were they different?
@@realblackbetty2204 awesome! I’m doing UWORLD now and I’m trying to use it as a study guide! I read FA first and now I’m just doing questions and studying all the rationales from the ones That I got wrong. How did you do on STEP 1, if you don’t mind me asking? Are you done with all of steps?
AST shake it up. Half spinach, mixed berries, 5-6 teaspoons of chia seeds, 2 second pour of olive oil, banana, scoop of organic/vegan veggie based protein powder. Oh and eat a hard boil egg or two to stay full longer.
I use pretest practice questions and I find them helpful but I didn't take the test yet so I don't know the outcome of it. what do you think med school insiders?
