Adam, lets be honest though, the real reason why Pepi didnt go to tje WC is because he sat on the bench at Augsburg until 2 months before the WC when he went to Groningen and scored a few goals. Pepi was then brought into the last camp before naming the roster to Qatar, and he didnt perform well in that camp

@jlb74a you sound stupid.....Pepi was a regular player during wcq, scored some big goals too, so why would Greg all of sudden feel he couldn't trust him unless he was glued to the bench in Germany. Playing a defensive LB isn't a bad thing, you're right... the problem is Gregg's system demands that the defensive-minded outside back MUST play offensive-minded. This is why Scally didn't look great his last outing. The System demanded that Scally play as if he were Sergino... and he's not Sergino.

Enjoyed the discussion. Re: Lund, the other thing that I think is really important to remember is that if you take the friendlies out of the equation, we are basically playing a game every 4-5 days. 3 group stage matches, then hopefully multiple knockout round matches. It's expecting A LOT for Jedi and Dest to play virtually every minute of every game, given how much those two are expected to move up in the attack. IF they were to bring Trusty as the 7th defender, I think you can make an argument that we are good with 7, because he can deputize both at LCB and LB. Otherwise I think you have to bring 8.

Musah has been MIA, for club and country, since January 2023. If other midfielders are healthy, reasonably, shouldn’t be on the roster, let alone a lock.

Bruh, what? He just had an assist? He’s playing as a regular sub for AC Milan. There’s not a single player who can replace his skillset in our 11. Gio can dribble as well, but doesn’t offer the work rate. Wes offers the work rate, but doesn’t have his ability to make line breaking runs. LDLT is a poor man’s version of him. It would be ludicrous to leave him off. He’s, at worst, our fourth best midfielder.

@@PhogadacbietGlazing Musah there 💀. He does have skill and potential but he is not ready yet imo. Even against Jamaica he was pretty bad. I wont complain if he is just back up for the US but Id probably give Paxten, Tessmann or Busio a call up instead.

None of them are better ball handlers/movers than Musah, none of them play at big clubs, none of them have had such a great showing with the main usmnt either. Even though Musah hasn’t been his best he is still well above all of the players you’ve mentioned. By the way he was fasting during the nations league games against Jamaica and Mexico so there’s that.

The issue with paredes is that he doesn't provide anything new. Like there is no scenario where you would possibly want to play paredes unless you want to give puli a little break. At least with aaronson, you get a burst of energy for pressing scenarios

I have a feeling Pepi will be the odd man out for strikers. Haji and Sargent's form has been to good to leave them out. Plus Pepi's age makes him a solid choice for the Olympics. If it were me tho, I would leave out someone like Aaronson and bring Balo, Pepi, Sargent, and Haji. Balo, Sargent, and Haji can all play back up winger reliably.

@@jaytown4185 I don't personally rate Vasquez. MLS/ ligamx just isn't at a high enough level to challenge for the first team at this point. If one of them was injured then Id prolly bring someone like Paredes to play back up wing.

@@yddubbud8229 even with Sargent available, you still bring Balogun. Tillman is the locked in backup 10 and can play on the wing, which is the one position group we seem to lack depth in.

With every tournament of the GGG era, two months out, we've had our perfect roster. Then guys get injured and that's part of what has resulted in guys that are a lock not being there and guys that weren't going to come, making it. We're at the end of the seasons, but pretty much everyone has a few games left and then there's the two friendlies. Anything could happen and what ends up happening typically, is the first man out in any part of the field gets added. Haji and Brenden barely didn't make the squad for the Nation's League until they did.

No. That's why they get 23. 12 people to back up the first 11. But they can sub someone in last minute up to a pre-determined deadline if someone is injured or pulls out last minute, as was done with Haji and Brenden before the Nation's League.

I imagine we bring the 4 CF with thoughts toward their versatility on the wing and leave Lund off. I think Lund was brought in for nations league only because Dest was on red card suspension entering the semifinal. I’m also not convinced Cardoso should be a lock. Whenever I watch him, his lack of pace stands out too much for me to the point where I see it as a detriment until he learns to position himself in a way that can negate much of it, similar to Ream.

Pepi also came out to complain about his minutes; it wasn't just his agent. It's public information and easy to find. Also, everyone was okay with his agent doing this at Augsburg, but it's not okay here apparently. Is Adam really validating Pepi through the exclusion of Lund? Makes no sense. Then he goes on to suggest Pepi over Sargent is a good option, and nobody can do what Pepi does. So, the suggestion is to disrupt the balance of the squad to include Pepi? The chickens are coming home to roost and eventually Pepi will be without any interest. If what happens at Augs happens at PSV, Pepi's reputation will keep him out of clubs.

Keep in mind, Olympics is not a mandatory FIFA window. Teams aren't going to be obligated to release players for the Olympics. Even if they don't make copa roster, that doesn't automatically mean we will see them in the Olympics.

I think Tillman and pepi are the only age eligible players who would even be considered for Olympics, and I don’t think either would be left off specifically for Olympics. So no, I don’t think there are any.

How is it insane? We have one left back. Scally has been awful every time he plays for the NT. If Jedi goes down, Lund would obviously be the next man up. Haji is one of the top scorers in the championship, and offers wing versatility. That’s something Pepi cannot offer.

@@asparceproton1 I never said I would leave Pepi off, and if we're being honest, the Championship is played at a higher level week in and out from top to bottom, than the Dutch League aside from PSV and Ajax. I'd bring both Pepi and Haji Wright, just like we did for the Nations League, so it doesn't have to be one or the other and Haji was brought in as a back up winger, so why not?

Gotta leave Balo... He hasn't been performing for the USMNT... Right now, he's like 3rd or 4th, imo, for our starters... You got Sargeant, Haji, Pepi, all arguably doing more for club and country than Balo this year... Pepi and haji should probably be our starting 9s with Balo and Pepi going to the Olympics

Until the talent comes to fruition through consistently good performances, I wouldn't give him the call up to Copa. There are loads of incredibly talented people out there that were never able to reach their potential... If he can start to actually live up to that talent, actually do it justice, then he will def be a locked starter, but we can't continue to give someone chances just based on talent if there isn't an end product matching up to that. His performances have not lived up to his actual abilities, and right now, he isn't showing any signs of turning that around...

There is still a silver lining. Yes, the USSF sucks and so does Gregg. But there has arguably never been a better time to be a USMNT fan. We have the greatest pool of young talent we’ve ever had, and they will be here longer than GGG, guaranteed. We’re consistently getting results against our greatest rival, and we’re winning trophies! Though, Nations League doesn’t hold much weight to me, admittedly. Not only that, but more supporters groups are popping up (Barra76), and USMNT content is at an all-time high on youtube and places like CBS. Stick around man, it’s not perfect but it’s a fun time to be a fan.

@@Jeffisboreddthere is nothing like the feeling of watching your country play and hearing that national anthem play before the game, especially the big tournaments. I guess it’s easier for us because the MLS doesn’t have the prestige of European club ball. I can only speak for myself, but I have no allegiance to any club in Europe because I tend to support clubs/teams from my city only. For me, the USMNT is my club AND country, and I could never imagine giving up on them.

Trusty is excellent in the air on offense, Wright sucks, has no aerial game. It’s been talked about it before.
