USOPP W | Grandma Reacts To One Piece Episode 40 and 41

See, I do not even like it most of the time when he do go brave. Because let us be real. The reason he is so scared is because of how dangerous it is. Its because that punch he took. It should by all reason and rights have killed the guy. Fishmen are 10x the strength of normal people. These guys are pirates so one would suspect, even if they are a bit lazy they should still be stronger than your average fishman. At least in theory. Usopp has his own talents. He should practically be the teams trapmaster/batman. Rather than fight directly, he should use tricks. He should avoid ever even being seen. He should make plans, with plans for when his plans fail. Its infuriating because he could be such an epic guy. Yes, even more of a coward than we see him be. But he would be real. Usopp may not be overall super smart. But he is a genius in his own fields. Why is it not being used more? If we ever see him be brave like this, he should get severely injured and it should be a massive plot point that his life is in danger and he needs time to recover.

​@@zhoupact8567i see your point there At the same time tho, the way these fights tend to go, he doesn't really have a lot of time to lay elaborate traps and stuff like that. Most of the time its not like he's fighting enemies he really knows well or something like that. He adapts on the fly

But, he didn't set out to play a child's game - he set out to be something intentionally with his life on the line, and given his actions over the course of 1,000 episodes that is a very inadvisable and long line of credit lol

@@GRANIMEhe’s just gotta realize that. It feels like he wasn’t taking this seriously for a while. But at least he moved forward in a direction that could help him grow.

Fishmen are 10x as strong as humans. If Usopp did not have plot protection, him trying to be brave should have instantly killed him here. Usopp should not be scared over little things. He should be scared because he not only is in danger, but that the only reason he even lives is nonsense plot. Although the only reason he put himself there is also nonsense. The cruel fact, is that Oda has never truly given the guy the love he deserves. Usopp has proven himself to be a genius in his own ways. He is quite talented at making stuff too. That combined with the reality that he should die if someone smashes his head in means he should ALWAYS do his best to avoid fights. Even if that means he is a coward. Instead he should look for ways other than direct battle to take down enemies. Lure them into traps. He should have plans on top of plans. Absurd traps left and right. Letting himself be punched like he was here. Just how the hell is he alive at all? Its dumb. Its bad. I will not go into it due to it being later. But even his most glorious moment in the story, I just do not like it. I do not like that he did exactly what happened in this episode. It SHOULD have gotten him killed meaninglessly. It was a horrible decision. HE was right all along. Not about just escaping, but it was such a good chance to let him shine. But instead it was dumb dumb dumb. I get that there stories have plot armor for the heroes. I am just frustrated because its not needed here. Usopp do not in my opinion need plot armor. He just needs solid plans. And several plan B,C and D's. I may be the only one who think Usopp should be MORE cowardly than he is. But I do not see how anyone can justify him not dying from being punched by an angry fishman. Even if we say that the 10x is only when they are in water, its still reasonable to say they are at least a few times stronger even out of water. More than Usopp should be able to tank.

@@zhoupact8567 I get your point, however your assuming that the One Piece world works the same way that it does the real world. Their are many people up until this point that should have died from an attack they received but they didn't. As an example, Sanji is human the same as Usopp. Even if he trained more then Usopp he shouldn't be able to tank attacks they received. Specifically Sanji gets hit by Kurobi who along with being 10x stronger for being a fishman uses fishman Karate which further increases his damage to the attack. As another example we go to the first arc, Ax hand Morgan hits a random marine with his Ax hand, yet that same marine is seen later perfectly fine. So the obvious conclusion should be that the average human can tank more in the one piece world more so then if they were in the real world. So for me Usopp doesn't have plot protection, its just the world he's in gives him the normal protections everyone else has.

Who forgets that?

the most common thing i make fun of the fights here is how the straw hats never die despite clear life ending injuries. On the other hand if they didnt the fights would be boring.

I do keep it in mind, but at the same time I’ve read Dressrosa and Wano some of these fights longer than Doflamingo’s therapists notes

We're currently looking to stabilize with One Piece then fold back out into our other shows as we're able - Vinland is the first on the agenda, then AOT, then probably JJK since this Shibuya Arc I keep hearing so much will be getting animated In the future, I post updates on the community tab regarding all of this as well!

@@GRANIME Well, tbf, all Usopp does in that regard is say how he wants to be brave, not how he's gonna take down 100 fishmen and 300 Marines, hah. (Now, the stories he tells after the fact are another matter....) And let's be honest, if we do a side-by-side on major enemies defeated (up to this point or even up to date with latest manga), Usopp edges out Nami a bit. Both are cowards, both try to let the strong handle the strong enemies. One just happens to want to get over that cowardice is all.

It's a bit more realistic and installs some gravity, for starters

@@GRANIME what am I lying about thoe he ain't a monster of a human like the rest of the crew he has no devil fruit what do you want him to do or feel he is running for his life as anyone would there's no way you belive that you would stay and fight a Fishman who is stronger and has monstrous feats its just unrealistic odas point for usopp is to connect the viewers usopp is how all of us would be we aint superhumans we aint capable of doing anything against these monsters and that's usopps purpose in the story

@GRANIME first off I'm way bigger then you are im trained in multiple martial arts the likes of bjj kick boxing muai Thai and boxing I carry a 45 acp always and even then I wouldn't be stu9id enough to try and take out monsters who clearly will rip me to shreads its called common sense why would I not run get in a better position to successfully eliminate a threat you wouldn't say you would stay and fight a grizzly bear would you ? If yes you are delusional it was allready stated that Fishman are 10x stronger then humans and 20x stronger in water then human a bear is 5x stronger then a human so while I'm using biological facts you are using an ego to claim that you would hold your ground against something 2x or 4x stronger then a bear

@GRANIME and I want to make it clear I don't care if you like usopp or not I'm not trying to force you to like him I just find it wrong to crap on a character who has clearly been written for the sole purpose to engage the readers on the fact that the rest of the crew aint normal humans he is maintaining a separation between normal and monsters and im not throwing shade at you guys or anything I like your reactions I wouldn't be watching them if I didn't I just wanted to express my opinion on why usopp doesn't deserve the crap talk 🤷

Its probable that dudes who hate on Usopp are more than likely cowards because they see flaws they have that they hate about themselves in Usopp. the good news is that Usopp isn't a coward, hes just the only human on the squad, hes a sniper he fights from afar, but homie always pulls through and tbh went toe to toe with luffy for longer than most east blue baddies. dont hate on the man, appreciate.
