Nice work! Some good info and valuable feedback. We are definitely taking notes for future revisions! 😎 ❓: Do you think it should be heavier for a larger difference? I think you just sold some Berettas btw 🤣 That "Thanos gun" tho! 🏋️♂️ Holster update: RHT does have them on their site now, as well as Renaissance Firearms and Lynch Holsters. GX Products is working on them and we did send some out to other shops, so holsters shouldn't be much of an issue anymore.
I've been carry a G19 with a TLR-7, every single day, longer than I've been shooting USPSA. All the rule change means for me is I don't have to fumble around with a screw driver in the parking lot and change holsters before a match.
Great video. I have LOK Brass Palm Swell grips on both of my CO Shadow 2s. Love them things. Nicely balances the guns and, as I describe the grips, I don't grab the grips, the grips grab my hand.
Another way USPSA could update the light rule is create an approved light list like they do with production guns, plus some similar and specific requirements. E.g. minimum production volume, and something like 150 manufactured quoted lumens or brighter rating.
I put a @LOK Grips LOK Light on my SIG P320 X-Carry and it fits in the Blackhawk Omnivore holster (TLR-1/2 model) with no modifications. I have a Gogun gas paddle on it as well and the Omnivore holster accommodates the paddle. The LOK Light will need to use the rail slot nearest the trigger guard and the key is in the forward 'pocket' of the LOK Light with the slot part adjacent to the clamp screw. Removing the level 2 locking mechanism on the Omnivore holster is as easy as removing the 3 screws holding in the backplate of the holster and taking out the 2 parts held in by the backplate. Then screwing the backplate back onto the holster. Holster is compatible with bladetech 3-hole mount and can use drop/offset holster hangers such as Lee Holster hanger, Springer Precision or BOSS. I have tried the LOK Light on a full size SIG P320F and SIG X5 Legion both with Gogun gas paddle in the Omnivore holster and it fits nicely, smooth draw! Holster is less than $50 at Amzon!
Careful there Dave. Describing the Beretta as similar to shooting Open minor will get some of us selling our Shadows! There is nothing that has made me giggle uncontrollably like shooting a well tuned Open minor gun. :-)
Great video as usual. I think the super squad would use weapon mounted lights to push sponsor lights (ex: legion lights), as far as affecting scores, I doubt it. Just my opinion tho. Again, great content man.
@thehumblemarksman I was hoping to get your opinion on having the brass lok grips with the brass magwell, is the brass magwell plus the grips too heavy?
The tactical Tim’s were already doing that. In USPSA it has to be a working light. The LOK Light is 7oz but has a small working push button flashlight inside of it...that you press from the bottom. Carry on
@@BigJohnsonGG I love that you softly called out the guntubers that seem to always have a light on their gun in videos, lol. I considered doing a video demonstrating how effective that is, then explaining why I never review a gun with added muzzle weight. In the end I decided to let the bruhs be bruhs, I'm not out for image, just journalism, I just wish the public knew they were being a little deceived by some of those "Tactical Tims"
Good review. Also I agree those brass grips are amazing. I have them on my Q5SF and I really like them for the texture. "Thanos Gun" I'm stealing that lol.
I think that the overall match performance is relatively speaking little influenced by the gun and much more by the mental aspects, draw, trigger control, recoil management through entire body and grip, efficient reloads and especially efficient stage planning/vizualisation, movement skills and efficient transitions. Thanks for sharing video/insights.
Since they have to machine the light anyway. I think it would make sense for LOK should just machine them so they fit into holsters for the TLR-1 or some other popular light.
The crappy part is... with uspsa having the "can change any rule, at any time bi law" they could very well redefine the flashlight criteria to be flashlights that are in mass manufacturing or something. Then everyone is out the 100 bucks they spent. Trust me.. been burned by uspsa rule changes before. I sold my shadow 2 because I wanted a carry optics gun in the off season that they then changed the weight rule
Oh I like them because they are bright! don't really do much for competition shooting, atleast not the ones worth using. If uspsa wanted to be smart all they'd have to do is add a weight limit lol
The x5 legion seems to me to be the dominant carry ops choice. At least here at universal that's what most of us shoot. Anyways, I'm older so do I have some shake. Does the weight help settle the dot when putting on target for a first shot on target? No x5 legion? Tsk, tsk😁
What would you consider a good balance on a pistol? For instance, a good balance on a PRS gun is to put the center of gravity right in front of the magwell. I wonder what's the equivalent of that on a pistol. Thanks!
@@Lokgrips I know from reading the website that the LOK Light loosely fits X300 and TLR-1 holsters, but have you guys considered making a frame weight specifically shaped to mimic those lights or at least shaped to make use of the retention in holsters made for those lights?
@@shootinbruin3614 We can't really make them the same shape and it would really need to be pretty much the same exact shape to guarantee a fit with those holsters. RHT does have them on their site now, as well as Renaissance Firearms and Lynch Holsters. GX Products is working on them and we did send some out to other shops, so holsters shouldn't be much of an issue anymore.
Great review and content as always sir. Personally I don’t get the big deal about allowing flashlights and I don’t see a problem with Lok specifically designing a brass weighted “light” to game the rules. There’s still an overall weight limit, so whether you have a traditional WML, Lok light, or none at all, everyone still has to keep to an enforced threshold 🤷♂️ For background I use Surefire X300Us on all my pistols (all carried/multi-purpose) mostly because 50% of every day is dark and I still want to see what I’m shooting if I need to use it. And yeah, the rest of the time it’s a decent frame weight that helps control recoil. I consider that a positive bonus on any pistol, whether it’s being used for competition or defense
I get why they made the LOK Light, but I can't stand shit like this that is pushing the edge of the rule. The spirit of the rule is to let people compete with their carry/duty guns, not to put a useless light just to make it heavy as possible.
Streamlights are good but I didn't like how the trl 1 would turn on when I didn't want it to and it couldn't really take what I put it through. But now I only have surefire x300u even on my edc glock 17 with rmr
