Something's really wrong with that balance... your initial full photon torpedo spread did little to no damage to their shields, whereas the Romulan initial barrage did massive damage to your shields. They should be about equal. Still, good fight.
What a close call! You might have had a chance if you wouldn't have turned the ship right in the moment when your aft torpedoes were coming back online (3:46). You might have needed to reinforce your aft shield for that final volley though.
A great fight! Some more info on the shield changes: Federation, Cardassian, & Dominion ships have slightly boosted Forward, Top, and Bottom shields. Klingon and Romulan ships have have a very large boost, but only to forward shields. It varies for other other ships form other races, but the info is listed on the ship descriptions in the Quick Battle menu if you are ever curious.
Should've aimed for their bridge. It's very vulnerable on the Warbird, and to protect it if the shields go down they will also turn their forward weapons array away from facing you, reducing their damage output.
You're not kidding about the textures. The aztecing on the Galaxy was beautiful. I'm leery about whether you'd be able to do a fleet of Galaxies without stuttering, but I'd love to see it.
If the galaxy class stays in front of the D'deridex like retro did here. But if the galaxy takes advantage of its superior maneuverability to avoid the front and rear torpedo arcs I think it wins
@@lucarinaldichini324 I don't think it was ever stated in the show that the D'deridex was twice as powerful. It doesn't really match with what we see imo as the D'deridex often seemed wary about confronting the Enterprise one-on-one, and the Enterprise along with 3 small bird of preys were able to get 2 D'deridex to back off. If they were really 2 times as powerful they would have been more confident imo
@@keyboardt8276 That is correct. The D'Deridex is mostly for intimidation and ambush tactics, not straight up fights against things in its own capability. This makes sense in lore, since it was designed to fight waves of Excelsiors, Centaurs, and handily beat Ambasadors 1vs1.
@@stephandolby They're very isolationist but that doesn't mean they don't pay attention to their neighbors and enemies, and the Romulans surely put a lot of effort into doing so.
@@compmanio36 Very true. We know that there were defections within the period, so the Empire wasn't completely isolated, and based on what Cmdr. Tebok said in _The Neutral Zone_ , they had indeed been paying attention even if they weren't getting involved. They may have remained that way for a bit longer had the Borg not showed up.
@@compmanio36 I think they were supposed to be roughly equal in power, which this mod reflects imo because retro might have been able to win if he avoided the frontal arc of the D'deridex more
The Ambassador class is a much better combat vessel then the Galaxy class period the Ambassador class a lose shield and take a lot of damage and still fight hard the Galaxy class can not..... facts.
In the shows they usually fired single phaser beams though. And the other mod actually allows you to fire multiple at a time which is kinda inaccurate imo
Honestly, that battle seemed... interesting. I think someone stated elsewhere that the Galaxy class and D'Deridex were roughly matched. The Warbird might be slightly more powerful, but the galaxy was faster? Still, the reloading times of the torpedoes is too slow. Games never get it right. They use maglev tech for reloading and launching the torpedoes among other things... heck they could also use transporters for reloading. So, the ENT-D should have been able to fire a lot more torpeodes in succession after firing 6 torpedoes all at once... or at least a lot sooner.
