Good luck, if Taiwan war breaks out, I wonder how many of you will be surprised China will only spread their navy to cover their beaches instead of using them to attack Taiwan. Taiwan is engulfed by China long range missiles, and we are talking production around 5k heavy duty with no electronics a month, around 10k cheap and low yield explosives in a week. About 500 high tech large missiles in 3 months. I'm still amazed so many people think that war would be fought at sea. China Sea is just a name, no one can fight US dominance over open waters.
@@ajstyles5704 might I remind you that if we flood half a battleship we can send 11inch shells 15 miles inland. And that's just for show, the real war will be won with missiles, lots and lots and lots of missles
@@MinutemanOutdoors yeah, too bad it takes a week or more for our logistics to resuply our entire navy fleet, since we have to fight on the ocean, we can't use India, South Korea, Vietnam and even Taiwan.
If Wisconsin ends up in a conflict that is against China it will get sunk on day 1. China's navy dwarfs what US currently has, they have better anti ship missiles than you, they have actual hypersonic cruise missiles, they have significantly better drones than you and they aren't suffering the massive manpower and recruiment issues you have. They also don't have trans activist nutters in command positions like you do. They already have done simulated wargames with China v US over Taiwan and you guys lost every single time. Lastly you'll more likely to be fighting in Iran, that's more your level.
I go to trade school with a navy vet, he worked in ordnance. From the stories he tells I have little doubt in my mind that the navy would absolutely dominate a free for all between the branches.
"Back in 1945, Japan signed the surrender documents on the deck my sister, MO. I decided that I, too, wanted to experience the surrender of an East-Asian pretend-superpower."
I asked my dad once, he’s a captain, why we no longer made battleships if they were so destructive. He said “we didn’t make battleships less destructive. We just started hiding the weapons better” and that’s how destroyers wet made.
Modern destroyer shows up off your coast. Everyone runs towards it to get a look at the pretty ship. Iowa class battleship shows up off your coast. Everyone runs the other way as shit's about to fall. There is something to be said for a mace in a gauntleted fist.
*USS Wisconsin pulls up*: "Hello there buttercups" All of Australia: "Wait! Hold on! Hold one fricking minute there mate!" USS Wisconsin: "What now?" *popcorn dings, Australia now has snacks*: "There, now please continue Yanks, I just wanted to be ready for the show."
Imagine being in one of the most intense naval battles in the world and you just see an 80+ year old ship firing a full broadside of the main guns into yours 💀
Technically, at maximum gun range, the battleship would be beyond the visible horizon, targeting you via aerial drone, so you'd never see the guns fire, and since the shells are puttering along at 1700 mph, a lot faster than the sound travels, you'd never hear the shells coming either. Of course, the ship would've already lit you up with the 32 cruise missiles it carries, from outwards of 1500 miles away. p.s. The missiles and even the katy shells can carry a nuclear payload, making things suck even more when you're the target.
The Mighty Moe USS Missouri, The real OG USS Iowa, The Black Dragon USS New Jersey and the Ever Angry USS Wisconsin coming back would be this Sailors dream come true.
They would sink. They ain't built to fight a country that can attack by air and water with modern tech. The whole gulf War thing was just for show. Plus iraq had nothing to fight it with.
The old battleships are the embodiment of getting punched, laughs after spitting a tooth out, then knocks their opponent out in one swing and doesnt stop swinging.
I work on WisKy as a tour guide. Any fight where WisKy is involved would cause more collateral damage than all of Peter and the giant chickens fights on family guy. That’s literally the only thing I can think to compare it to.
@@zombieregimeI doubt the Iowa class Memorial rief could even get one salvo off. It was definitely an impressive ship for it's time, but there's a reason they're no longer build
The Big Whisky coming out of retirement would be amazing! When they brought the Mighty Mo out of retirement and gave her guided artillery with computer guidance, she was firing 2000 pound rounds 100 miles into Iraq and hitting targets the size of picnic tables. The craters left were 54 feet across and 27 feet deep. That was in the early 90s for Desert Storm. Imagine upgrading Big Whisky with today's tech!
Third World Countries would be the ones with a shit moment but with a DJI drone with an explosive the “Might Mo” could be the partner of Titanic the both “Titans”🤣🤣🤣so lets just leave it as a Museum maybe this year in going to Honolulu so i can visit it
@@yakamarezlife I dont think they understand how modern radar and ship protection systems work.... Or that they can easily be bolted on old boats.... Or that boats like that wouldnt travel alone.... The real problem is the fuel storage tanks, the propulsion systems, and the piping. They've been sitting a long time....
Navy has been discussing bringing a few battleships out of retirement as they see a need for them in the future. Definitely will be a huge ass morale booster.
U.s. sends current fleet to tell the 70+ year old ships to heel current fleet "accidentally* getting lost and finding themselves on the wrong side of the globe because they arent suicidal
@@smithbabies7886 Yup, and the rising number of old pickups returning to the road as well, especially the old school 4×4s. If war kicks off on the home soil, Mad Max will become reality for better or worse.
As an engineering exercise, I designed an overhaul of the Wisconsin to see how many VLS could fit on the ship. It was an amazing sight. I used the ddg 1000 pilot house, added enough CIWS, and upgraded the engines.
A yes. The Wisconsin arrived to the second world war too late and only ended up being used as a troop transport, bring men back home mostly. By the time the korean war rolled around... The steel beast was itching for a fight. A reason to show her true power. One shell was enough. A single drop of blood to go bullistic for just a moment... But as far as I'm aware. Though newer than the other Iowa's and never truly damaged, practically speaking. The wisconsin never got to see another fight. If the first one could even be called a fight, anyway.
@mikaelafoscore1236 bb64 was at okinawa and had to be used as a bodyguard for the carriers 51, 52 she served in korea and the famous temper temper happened then was brought back in the 88 to test the cruise missiles on targets in desert storm they worked
@@danielbabcock7004Oh wait your serious? Man it’s good the US navt doesn’t listen to commenters because it’d be wild to see a thousand USN sailors die in a single attack, which would probably be the only result of using battleships.
@@Springtrap11556 I mean the whole skit and it's comment section are just pure fantasy. If the PLAN saw a 70 year old rust bucked pull out of port the only thing they might die from would be laughter. These are the guys that feel genuinely confident at the prospect of dealing with modern USN carrier battle groups ffs
Ah the Iowa Class battleship. This could go one of two ways. Bad or horribly, for whoever the guns are pointing at. An Iowa class battleship once sunk an island. Let that sink in. They sunk a land mass. And the USS Wisconsin has a temper. If they get so much as a one foot diameter hole in the deck, they'll do a full broadside in response. And when i day that the USS Wisconsin has a temper i mean that literally. A coastal defense battery fired at them and put a small hole in the deck. They returned fire with all nine 16 inch cannons and deleted the battery amd the surrounding area.
Yeah let's see how does against hypersonic cruise missiles then not even cwis can stop that plus China just unveiled that it's aircraft carrier has a rail gun....
@@rustyrelicsfarm2406I read from another comment some time ago, where the commenter was in the US navy, when the Iowa class still were active. He said they had NUCLEAR TIPPED 16 inch shells Edit: I found the comment, but it didn’t say it was nuclear tipped. And RU-vid won’t let me share individual comments. (Be like Reddit on that point, RU-vid)
As much as I’d love to see her powered and operational again she was obsolete by the end of the WWII. As much as I love my states flagship, look it up, she will remain a floating memorial until time people give up on museum ships.
Akchually it's phalanx. Not sure if it ever had them, but it doesn't have them anymore. Old wisky is moored in Norfolk and the only weapons left on her are the ones that delete islands.
Missouri still has hers. Plus Tomahawk launchers. And New Jersey iirc. CIWS that is. Unfortunately, when Wisconsin was sold to the city of Norfolk, they permanently anchored her to her mooring with concrete so she couldn't break out during a hurricane (again). So it's very unlikely she'll sail again.
The USS Missouri has two Phalanx systems, four anti-ship missile platforms, all the anti air and smaller anti ship guns she came with and flare and chaff launchers as well.
A true battleship. 3, x3 16in guns.Along with a variety of other weapons. But the idea that somewhere over the horizon, there could be 9 16in shells heading your way, and there's nothing you can do about it, is scary AF. As a Marine I'll talk shit about the Navy all day long. But Naval artillery is no fucking joke. Had a friend with SF during VN, he said that everyone got excited when they called for artillery support, and was told that the only thing available was Naval from one of those monsters. He said even though they were nowhere close to him, the shells sounded like freight trains going overhead. And that 3 shells was normally all that was needed.
If we bring back the battleship of course it's the one with a very short explosive temper. The USS Wisconsin is the final form of the boss battle for Taiwan
If they can get into gun range a guided missile has more ranger a fighter bomber has even more I love my Iowa's but battleships were outdated in ww2 unless we're shelling harbors
@@sqike001tonthe modernized ones carry modern aa and tomahawk pods. Plus, most modern anti-ship missiles were made with modern ships with little armor instead of a battleship's armored belt and deck. Still got some bite in them.
@@initiative_general2227no ammo for the guns though, and you'll have to scrounge the country for boiler operators to keep em running. Re mobilizing them would probably cost as much as building a new burke, each, if not more

Sad part is if the navy isn’t willing to spend the money to modernize the Wisconsin. Which is unfortunate because a modernized nuclear powered Wisconsin would be a terrifying boat
I work as a tour guide on the WisKy and whenever a guest asks I always tell them that if they can get me 2 to 4 billion dollars, I can get her up and running again in less than 4 years. 6 of her 8 boilers probably wouldn’t even need much work. I’d have to arrange with some machine shops to create new breach blocks for the 16 inchers, and I think Lockheed could definitely invent some cool discarding sabot ammo for em. There’s a few spots where new steel needs to be added but she’s structurally sound for the most part. It would be a lot of work but it would still be doable. Only problem is that it would mean that I’d be out of a job.
@@nikolasproctor7061 out of a job as a tour guide sure but you’d probably be rewarded for your work, though I don’t think sabot rounds are what the 16 inchers really need, their strong suit is bombardment. Maybe ramjet ammo or laser guided rounds
Next up the Battleship Texas wasn’t actually getting those repairs just to go into a permanent dry dock. Surprise! 😂 “sir the enemy has retreated inland what do we do?” “Let me show you what we called a pro move back in my day”
USS Texas was recently restored, and it was sitting in mud. I was just on Wisconsin a few months ago. It looks to be in good shape. I'm sure it could be reactivated if necessary. The problem is the number of men needed to operate her and the skill to operate the boilers at sea.
Just imagine if we bring back some of the world war 2 battleships we had and modernized them, like their cannons alone are already up depart when it comes to devastating power, they just need some extra armor better engines several more torpedo tubes in a faster way to reload and we will pretty much create godzilla as a ship
I would very much enjoy seeing the USS Wisconsin and USS Missouri showing up just to remind the world why they should be very afraid of the US Navy. Yeah we know you’re over 100 miles inland, but the Mighty Mo and Big Wisky will be more than happy to demonstrate why you’re still not safe.
A newspaper interviewed a captured german soldier who was defending Normandy. They asked him what was the scariest part, clearly fishing for a propaganda quote. The translator present asked the soldier and in an instant the German blurted out in english "USS Texas".
The only battleship in history to see all 5 theatres of war in WWII, The only ship to be manned by the Marines for 30 years, and the only ship to play the Battlwship game and say 'Hold my beer, i just sunk myself so you better prepare to die' and still land accruate fire and land that samd ordanence when all other ships were forced to stop firing inland before retiring as histories first floating museum.
Thank you for explaining the series. It’s a shame some people think something different nowdays is bad, and you can see how that’s going for some pepole/companies ( *cough cough* COD mw3, overwatch 2, the day before) wich makes them afraid to push the boundaries, just like darling in the franxx or helldivers 2 did. Some movies/games aren’t for everyone, and darling in the franxx applies to this category. Some people view it as bad, while others (including me) view it as something unique. Yes, there are tons of movies and anime abaout romance and mechs fighting, but this series doesn’t want to just show you mech battles with some filler in between. No. It makes you sympathize with the characters, makes you see that they all have their own feelings and emotions. I think the ending is so disappointing to a lot of people is because after they die and get reincarnated, they aren’t hiro and zero two anymore. I personally think that it is both sad and a little bit dissapointing, but as everyone knows, everything comes to an end at some point, its just the matter of when.
USS Wisconsin: "I was taking a nap. you interrupted my nap. I get angry when I have an interrupted nap. you don't want to see me when I'm angry. all hands, let's make a new batch of coral reefs. full broadside to starboard, OPEN FIRE!!"
Lot more to it than that. The Iowas (all of them) needed a total engine rehaul by the end of their service.. Easier to just build some other ships at that point given that you need to rip the ship apart to do it.
