To be fair, (unconfirmed) the west only let Nazi Germany get so powerful because they were hoping they'd hate Communists more than the Jewish... Didn't work out well.
Now I know why the American government and IC wanted to get rid of the USSR. At a point when listening to this anthem, it hit me this is a nightmare to the U.S.
@@mialia15104wrong. The Stalin years (1930s) were the best for the people that lived through them. While western capitalism was collapsing with the Great Depression and people were starving en masse in Europe and America, the USSR was moving forward at lighting speed, industrializing, building huge collective farms, and the people enjoyed a standard of living never seen before in Russia. Obviously the war was terrible and the 1970s were more prosperous, but for people that lived through Tsarist Russia, the Stalin era was the best.
Listening to this makes me feel proud of being born in the USSR! I moved to the US in 1978, but Russia and the USSR will always be in my heart... Слава Росиа!
You are correct. However, otechestvo is masculine, and otchizna, even though it means fatherland, is feminine. I’m guessing the translators shied away from “fatherland” thus to distinguish themselves from the German Nazi connotation where “fatherland" was used.
I’m sure wherever you live there are liquor stores stocked with Vodka. As a Russian /American/Armenian I HATE alcohol. Both sides of my genes love alcohol but I don’t. I love the other plant based products that God gave us and man synthesized for us lol. It’s “legal” because liquor comes from white countries n good stuff comes from brown countries
As a westerner listening to this, it kinda hurts my heart. We once linked arms and fought in battle to make the world a better place and look at us now? We all know damn well who started this. People of Russia, we are NOT your enemy.
You arent but the american ideology is. Freedom at the cost of everyone else, greed and egoism. All built on the selling of weapons, murdering of natives and exploitation of slaves. Fuck that, i choose communism even if it might not be perfect yet.
United forever in friendship and labour, Our mighty republics will ever endure. The Great Soviet Union will live through the ages. The dream of a people their fortress secure. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. Through days dark and stormy where Great Lenin lead us Our eyes saw the bright sun of freedom above And Stalin our leader with faith in the people, Inspired us to build up the land that we love. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. We fought for the future, destroyed the invaders, And brought to our homeland the laurels of fame. Our glory will live in the memory of nations And all generations will honour her name. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see.
Every time I listen to this hymn, I involuntary stand up. 1944 version is much better than the 1977 version. In the first version the Judas Khrushchev did not have a chance to blacken Stalin's legacy.
Ich komme aus Süd Afrika, aber ich spreche Deutsch und ich liebe die sowjet volk und history. Ich spreche ein bisschen Russisch und mein opa lebte in Ostdeutschland
