Ustad Ali Akbar Khan plays Raag Darbari Kanada at a concert in 1967 and Pandit Mahapurush Mishra accompanies him on Tabla.This was in a very old LP disc and perhaps one of the best recordings of Raag Darbari Kanada by Khan Saheb.
For those who want to know, it is Pandit Mahapurush Mishra playing tabla. The entire rendition by both masters is etched in my mind ever since I heard it the first time as a teenager. In my humble opinion, Pandit Mahapurush Mishra is the greatest Tabla maestro in the last hundred years or so. His short life is a misfortune for the world.
Ali Akbar Khan is the greatest Sarod player of all times that the world has ever known. There will never be anyone playing Sarod on this planet like him. This is the best Darbari Kannada rendition on Sarod that the humanity has ever heard. The spirit of the music comes out of the notes vibrating in the ether and forms an enchanting cloud over the souls of all beings coming under it's influence. No one has ever achieved that in the instrumental musical tradition of India. Salutations to Mahapurush Mishra for creating equally wonderful matching rhythms from his magic tabla.
@@bhargavoza1989 Alauddin Khan used to work as a servant when Hafiz Ali Khan’s father was a great musician. Alauddin Khan wasn’t even born when the great Gowalior gharana existed. Do some research.
Ustad Ali Akbar khan has direct connection with mother nature. Pouring life in subatomic particular. The break of chaos and harmony prevail. Both are great masters.
If one listenes to this with eyes shut you feel likd the entire life is being described through the Alaap . Divine and Mesmirizing are understatement to this rendition of life time . Khan Saab extracted hus own great soul into this .

this is one of the most spiritual ragas of indian classical music. Ustad Ali Akbar kahn is floating, such pure music. The table player is great too, unfortunately they do not even mention his name...what is raga without tala? My deep respect for this masters!!

I have never been heard as beautiful as this Darbari kanara in my entire life. Thanks to Sanyal Sir for uploading this excellent audio in youtube. Pandit Mahapurush Mishra is simply supreb and Khan Saheb is God of Sarod. I am Speechless.

1st raga i heard on BBC radio at the age of 13 in the mid 70s was ustad ali akhbar Khan! . Werent we lucky that the generation of maihar gharana were alive and making great music when we were waking up to the beauty of raga.
a great representation of the miahar gharana. I am sure this rendition has put smiles on the founder and his influence Allauddin Khan who learnt from Sri Wazir Khan.

Is Mahan kalakar aur inke dhrupad sarod ka koi jabab hi nahi hai, Ane wale waqt tak. Yeh ek Anmol dharohar hai Baba aur unke Maihar gharane ki. Ustad Bahadur khan , Pandit Vasant Rai jaise Anmol kalakar bhi Baba ke dhrupad sarod ke Mahan kalakar hue hai. Sabhi ko sadar naman. Raga Darbari Kanara seems to have been played with its usual serenity and arristrocratic mood ,by Ustad Ali Akhbar Khan Saheb on his Sarode in his own style . This paticular Raga,Darbari Kanara, created by Mian Tansen for Mughal Emperor for singinging in his court as his court musician and it is in this manner different from other classical Ragas of North Indian Classical Music. The stroke of Ustad Ali Akhbar Khan Saheb was communicative of each and every note of the Raga for portrayal of its special character. He is ably accompanied on Tabla by Mahapurush Mishra.
