We have similar spike only hunts in WA. Hunting big bulls gets all the press, but it's still fun getting out there and hunting spikes and cows.

This video has me so pumped. My 13 year old son was lucky enough to draw a California either sex tag. I have been putting in for a Ca elk tag for over 20 years. This year i get to focus on his hunt and hopefully get it all on film. Making memories. #huntingfool great videos.

"A spike hunt is nice cause you can just go hunt!" But it sure is nice when you can at least see one. My spike hunt last year had no spikes showing themselves but more 340+ bulls than I've ever seen in my life.

Congratulations. The spike elk hunt is my favorite way to learn about an elk hunting unit in Utah. That I may decide to apply for a big bull elk tag in. That was awesome.

I think there's a lot of value in documenting a spike hunt & kill. Learning how to kill spikes is a relatable thing for so many people, myself included. Also, meat should be more important than the inches of the antler. I doubt there's many non-hunters watching this channel, but there's a great message in the film about consumption. It isn't all about killing big stuff. Good job.

Love it!! The cow and spike hunt is one of my favorites to kick the year off. We get to shake some of the rust off of the bow hunting skills, scratch that super itchy trigger finger, and fill the freezer with some of the best tasting game meat around. Nice work fellas!!

I’ve never been hunting for anything and only started getting interested last year which was the first time I ever applied for a hunting license. It’s nice to be able to see part of the hunt before participating in one. Didn’t get a tag from the draw this year but hoping to buy one when they start selling OTC tomorrow.
