Catch the behind-the-scenes of this record-breaking 40,000 frt transport to Esenada, Mexico!
Broken down into seven shipments originating in Vaasa, Finland and Trieste, Italy, this video shows the behind-the scenes loading of huge engines for the Mexicali Oriente power plant. This dual-fuel power project included 24 units of 18V50SG (295 ton) engines and 22 units of 20V34DF (140 ton) gensets. Wärtsilä contracted UTC Overseas Oy to handle the logistics for this project, which is the biggest so far for Wärtsilä.
UTC Overseas Oy entrusted BBC Chartering as the main carrier with the ocean portion of this impressive project. All in all, close to 40,000 frt had to be transported from Vaasa and Trieste to Ensenada in 7 shipments, of which 60 % were carried on BBC Chartering’s vessels.
Juha Karmanto, Sales Director at UTC Overseas Oy commented: “UTC was very pleased about BBC’s performance on this very time-sensitive project. We were able to get vessels when needed on short notice thanks to BBC’s big fleet.”
“We at BBC Chartering are very proud of having been entrusted with the ocean transportation in this project. It is not every day that you get to be involved in something on this scale!” commented Alex Thomassen, Sales and Chartering Manager Scandinavia at BBC Chartering.
