Hi Nannette: Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad that you are finding the videos helpful and I am investigating the stitch creator software and hope to be able to do a video(s) on it in the next few months. One thing to note is that it doesn't work on a Mac without having a PC emulator program, such as Parallels and then Windows too (which I have on my Mac).

Thought if another area and wondered if you have a video on..... centering a programmed stitch. I would like to center a small monogram. Thank you. I look forward to every video.

Thank you for your videos on the 9400. Your videos have been a tremendous help on understanding how to use all the capabilities of this wonderful machine. The manual and the DVD that are provided with the machine are very limited to say the least... I really love my Janome machines! I am hoping you will have a few more instructive videos coming up soon....Thanks again!

Thank you for this tutorial! I have the Elna 780 which you probably know is the same machine and even though I've been operating it for about 10 months you've shown me a few things here I didn't know - ie the the indicator to press is using the walking foot :)

When you refer to the dual feed foot in this video are you referring to the AcuFeed foot? I am going to use the new HP2 Acufeed foot and it doesn't give me the option of turning on the blue icon at the top of the screen, which you said makes the pressure foot and feed dogs work together. Is it still going to engage the top and bottom feeds work together?

Yes, I'm referring to the AcuFeed foot. If you're using the HP2 foot, you need to also use the HP plate to make it work properly.

Hi Kim, thank you for these videos. Very helpful. What does the B stand for at the top of the stitch illustration?

I no longer have this machine but I believe that when you push it, it takes you back to the beginning of your stitch - mostly used when doing monograms or programmed stitches. If you check your manual, I believe you'll find out information about it.

Is there a manual that tells you how to find the different screens? I can't seem to figure out how to get anywhere. Also, when I turn on my machine my default screen shows Utility (U) but that is all there is there is no (1/2 ) after it and only sewing options I have are 1 thru 5. I discovered this when the needle no longer stayed in the needle down position. I know there was a place for setting the option but it shows that you have to be Set 2 (1/4) and I can't find that on my machine. For information purposes, I have my regular straight stitch throat plate on the machine and and my A foot is attached. Thank you so much for all of the information you share and for your videos. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't know how to do anything with this machine.

You should've received a manual when you purchased your machine. If not, search for the manual for your particular model online as they are usually available as a PDF. You will only see straight stitches when you have the straight stitch plate on. Change to the zigzag plate and you'll see many more options.

@@Chatterboxquilts Thank you Kim! I understand that for other than straight stitches I need to have the zigzag plate on. It never dawned on me that I would have to have the zigzag foot on just to verify the setting on the needle-up/needle-down. Even after putting the zigzag plate on it took me a while of trial and error to figure out how to get to the (Set 2) in order to fix it. I do have the manual and refer to it often but must have missed the part about the hitting the set button a second time. Now I just need to remember it. I( I don't know why I even ended up needing to fix this. I sewed yesterday and the needle-down worked all day. For some reason when I started sewing today it wasn't working and I hadn't changed a thing. I just turned the machine on and hit 'OK' when it asked about using the previous setting.) Thanks again and happy quilting!
